Simply awesome, I have not felt so secure with a keeper for years, probably Niemi, but Alex is superb in commanding the 6 yard box. So why is there no mention of him going to Russia - he must be among the best 3 English keepers?
Because he has only been putting in these performances for a few months. Still should be in the conversation but that is the reason. Also i was just as confident with Forster a couple years back, before his big injury. Yes he has been crap of late but it is odd that people seem to have forgotten he was once one of our top players linked to the likes of liverpool
If MP had dropped FF earlier we might have had a much better season as he is without doubt the worst Saints keeper I have seen for many years St Alex for player of the year
He's made some wonderful saves, particularly in recent weeks. Love that he's so keen to come for crosses too and isn't afraid to come through crowds of players to get a good punch on the ball. Player of the season for me for sure.
He's not an outstanding keeper by any stretch though, hopefully he'll go in the Summer and free up some wage room.
I think Forster is a good keeper and i dont think we'll find a better backup so i'd be happy to keep him unless we get a good offer. But we have an entire thread for Forster vs mcCarthy. maybe keep this one for Praising McCarthy?
I don't get him, he is 28 and has only played around 150 games, he was not even first choice when loaned out to some poor teams. did he ever have any ambition or have the ex gk employed by the club (we now have 3) worked some magic?
We can't keep FF as back up due to his massive wages, so sell him and use the money to give St Alex a new contract and bring in a new replacement. We need a summer of ruthless clearing out mediocrity to avoid a repeat of this season
