He's very very highly rated, and has been left out of their squad recently- which is telling. http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/sport/football/article4182482.ece
He was pretty much MOTM when we played them last year if I recall correctly? Very good keeper IMO and would push Green to keep his number one spot.
Why the f**k do we keep trying to sign young up and coming talent with something to prove and probable resale value? REDKNAPP OUT!
I am not suprised that a new back up goal keeper is being sought and this would be a great signing. It was not our priortity, but now that all the other needs seems to be fixed I am very pleased that this is also being covered. To date I am very impressed with all the new signings and am also very much looking forward to the Hoddle impact on the team. However, it would be great to put a few points on the board and more importantly start to notch up our first win. Could there be a suprise this Saturday? The setting is ideal with the return of Harry and Glen to WHL.
He'd be more than competition for Green, I actually think he'd dislodge him the minute Green screws up Succession planning.......I like it
Competion is great and what we need. My only very minor concern is that Green is a goalkeeper who builds his confidence based on stability. Should he be anxious he is prone to spectacular blunders. Currently is on form and very confident.
Very happy that we are looking to sign McCarthy - a great keeper who always has a great game against us! However, my worry would be that this would upset the situation with Green again. I know he needs competition, but to have Green and McCarthy? Both first team keepers. It would be like the Cesar situation again.
No player should be allowed the comfort of knowing they will play every week, if fit. McCarthy is a very good keeper and would be an excellent signing.
Unless he's brought in with the understanding that he's there to learn from Green for now. Sit both guys down, tell Green he's our number 1 and that we'll reassess at the end of the season, thereby giving Rob the confidence and motivation to bring McCarthy on?
Does this mean we shouldn't have brought in all these good players in the transfer window - they're all going to undermine the confidence of the existing players. Simpson might be upset by the threat of Isla, Onuoha upset by Caulker etc etc I blame the board and most significantly Arry - if they want the right sort, they should have got me - for a nominal fee, I would be no competition to anyone!
