This isn't a WUM, just a general question I would like your opinion on. Who do you think/do you want to become manager after AF retires? I'm talking about long term, I know many of you will say Jose - but when has he ever stuck around for longer than a few seasons. A long term Manager, do you think AF has been training someone behind the scenes like the Liverpool boot room? Also, when do you think AF will retire? Personally I think the end of next season, I wouldn't be surprised if he's making preparations for his retirement now so the transition when he leaves won't be massive. Give me your thoughts.
King Kenneth will come and take over, as he has more chance of getting silverware with UTD than with the dippers.
Tough to say. I reckon Mourinho will come after SAF leaves, but only for a few years until we get a longer term replacement. With Inter Milan and Real Madrid under his belt, Man Utd, Barca and AC Milan are the only big clubs from the modern era he's missing from his CV. I guess he'll never go back to Barca, so United would be an obvious destination. He'll probably win everything there is to win, then punch Joel Glazer in the face and get fired... For long term, hard to say - a lot will depend on how SAF's previous players / mentees do at other clubs. If Bruce, Moyes, Hughes or even Phelan make themselves a name in management over the next few years, I wouldn't rule them out post Mourinho.
I think he's got one more season in him after this one, although there is the possiblity that he will retire at the end of this season if he bags hat 19th title. I think Mourinho is the most likely person to come in, he's always implied that he would love the United job. Also, whoever takes over from Fergie will inevitably be compared to Fergie and questioned as to whether or not they can match his achievments, Jose is one of the only people who can come in and handle that level of pressure, not only handle the pressure but he also has the ability to succeed and follow in Fergies footsteps. Sure he won't be the United manager for as long as Fergie, he may suprise people and stay longer than expected but I doubt he'll last half the time Fergie has here. I don't want a Moyes or O'Neil to come in, we need someone with top level European experience, Moyes and O'Neil and the likes haven't managed champions league clubs or handled that level of expectation before. Whoever replaces Fergie should be given time, even if it's Jose we aren't guarenteed to win something right away but a manager like him will win trophies.
