I'm hearing after todays (yet another) made up story from Alex Crook about Shane Long, the club have decided to ban Alex Crook and his downmarket news agency from Staplewood and St Marys Stadium. Crook claims hes a journalist yet is a total embarrassment to the profession. Crooks charge sheet runs well into double figures now on made up tat or sensationalized drivel that he supplies to comics like the daily star. Crook is a portsmouth resident who supports Man United.
Good move by the club if true though I doubt it will change anything as Alex Crook has never let a lack of credible sources, facts or common sense stop him from 'reporting' his sensationalist garbage in the past.
Thread is total bollocks. It's not true and I'd advise people to check the OP's post history. Whatever you think of Crook and his 'downmarket news agency' - who I actually do work for - they provide the coverage that gets Saints into The Sun, The Mirror, The People and The Telegraph. That's a big audience. Saints aren't stupid enough to cut them out. Not this regime. I've no idea if there's anything in the Shane Long story, but banning journalists is a slippery slope and counter-productive. Have a nice Tuesday.
Don't kid yourself. Crook writing a bunch of made up crap does nothing for the club. Press coverage is good, as is freedom of press and all sorts of other stuff involved here. Crook is the unfortunate price we all have to pay for actual useful stuff. Sadly, he is on ESPNFC, which is where many in the US get their soccer news? Do you really think a bunch of made up bollocks served to a potentially lucrative market Saints are trying to tap into serves the club?
Politics. Let the papers say everyone is going in the summer, everyone starts moaning, then only a couple/few leave and the board get to say we stood firm on players we wanted to keep. I'll bet some of the non-stories are actually fed to journalists via 'club sources'.
and that's a good thing? Because "news" from the club wouldn't get into those publications without a news agency? News like, results from playing football? Or Charlie Austin signing? As far as I can see, News Agency's main journalistic tool is to use "CTRL & C" Please don't tell me that there are any real fans left who still think anything printed in a National newspaper is worth reading?
There are lies, dammed lies and then there are the football transfer stories in newspapers. It is the Blogs that drive me mad and which I gave up reading months ago. Copy and paste has its downside.
So a made up story that a journo has been banned for making up stories becomes a made up theory of club sources leaking made up stories There's a future for you in Journalism my boy !!!
