It annoys me because he hasn't even played outside of League One level, so he won't be ready to step up. We need to invest in the present, not the future.

could mean Miyaichi hasn't got his work permit.

Theo, Arshavin, Gevinho, Chamberlain as the wingers this season then.

    Seems rather pointless.

That money could have gone a long way towards the centre back you need. Or half of it would have probably secured Parker.

    Wenger is an idiot.

All the respect I had for him is gone ! If this report is true he is a big idiot !

£12m for a 17 year old with no Premier league experience and he only bids £10m for Jagielka - not that I rate Jagielka 1 jot but .. you see my point !

He does seem to be losing the plot a touch. Given the last few years, I'd have though he would be a little more concerned with building a good side now, not one that might be good in a few years. How long is this project going to go on for? Keep Nasri and Fab, add a couple of decent signings and you have the makings of a team to win stuff. Could so easily go the other way though...

He is EXACTLY what we dont need.

Another young, short, creative, attacking player.

Sure he'll be Top Class in another 3 years.

How come we cant afford to pay £20 Million on an experienced International but £12 Million for a teenager is fine?

Thanks for the money guys! Very good player (in League One...) but who knows whether he has the makings of a Premiership player. We're off to the bank, see you in a few years hopefully.

We are not paying £12 Mil upfront. This is one of those deals that has so many different payments over a time. At most we have spent £6 Million today for this player. We still have MORE THAN ENOUGH money to buy defenders.

Great deal for us, not sure what Wenger is thinking!! As you guys all know you need proven talent NOW not in 2/3yrs!! I guess the fans won't be to pleased with £12m fee....

I wouldn't be so sure about the installments etc, now we have a new chairmain I'd be very surprised if you didn't pay at least 8 million upfront. That's if the fee is 12 million of course.

Cool. So that is the same amount of money we sold Clichy for. It all adds up.

But Cortese won't get ****ed around. There's no way he'd let you get him for £6m up front, he'd just say "no thanks, have a good day." and wave you out the building.

As a few Saints fans have said I doubt that the upfront fee is 6 million. I expect it to be more than that as Cortese our chairman is not a man who likes these type of deals. Look at Jason Puncheon as an example left to rot until the right deal comes in. I'm happy for the kid and yes he is a very good player in league one but it's a bit of a jump to the prem and like a lot of Arsenal fans I'm scratching my head wondering is this what you need atm?????

In a couple of years I think he will be an awesome player but kind of think you guys wanted something that was the finished article which OXO is not.

Standard Wenger signing. He's negotiated hard for it. 7ish upfront sounds right as he's young. Extra cash for every 50 performances no doubt to make up the money. No doubt there's a decent sell-on clause in there too which was apparently one of the major sticking points.

It's a good deal for Southampton as they'll have constant cash coming in from the deal for the next few years.
