    Taken from the WO:

Tom Aldred has returned to Watford after his loan spell at Inverness Caledonian Thistle was cut short.

Neither club has confirmed whether he is coming back to Hertfordshire but the centre half has this afternoon posted two messages on the subject on social media site Twitter.

Aldred said: “For one reason or another my time at Inverness has not worked out, I’d like to wish the fans and players all the best for the season.”

And added: “Oh and by the way I loved the nickname from the fans [Tank]. Good luck for the rest of the season will keep an eye on the results.”

The 20-year-old did not go into the details of why the six-month loan was ended prematurely but it may have something to do with the arrival of Wigan Athletic defender Roman Golobart.

Aldred started the first two games of the season and was then a used substitute for the next two but he did not feature against Aberdeen on Saturday, when loanee Golobart made his debut.

I wonder what this means for the lad. We clearly dont have plans for him, so i assume he will be palmed out on another club.

I am not being critical of him here but if he cannot get in the ICT team <yikes> I hope he can come back and go out on loan to a league 1or 2 team and get the experience he needs to help his development.

He did get in the squad, but when you think about it a young player from Wigan is more than likely to be a step or 2 ahead of you in development and quality so will earn a spot on that merit. Im sure he will keep trying and work his way into someone's squad.

Wonder if he may be used as part of a deal for bringing a new player in, even if he only goes on loan to the other club for the rest of this season.

Maybe Cardiff want to sign him - he was one of Malky's 'finds' wasn't he? Like most others here, I've never seen him play and have often wondered why we bought him. I wonder if he himself is wondering that too - may have been better off staying at Carlisle:)

I know that, like Scott Loach, he has copped some horrible abuse on twitter for no apparent reason - it's hard to escape the lowlifes of this world.
