From LFC website... John Aldridge today warned Barclays Premier League defenders that the instant understanding Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge have struck up is only going to improve over the coming weeks. The pair linked up superbly during Saturday's 5-0 rout of Norwich City at Anfield, with both men getting on the scoresheet. For Sturridge, it was his third goal in as many appearances for the Reds since joining the club from Chelsea at the start of the month - and though highly impressed by what he's witnessed so far, Aldridge believes there is much more to come from the duo. He wrote in the Liverpool Echo: "Some strike partnerships never get off the ground. Others take time to develop, while there are those which get better and better the more games the strikers play together. "But some double acts just click - and Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez have clicked from the word go. "I could see that straight away at Old Trafford from the moment Daniel ran onto the pitch. "Since he has been around Luis Suarez has resembled a kid in a toy shop. "The pair have a natural understanding already, and what's even more ominous for Premier League defenders is that the partnership is only going to get better. "Daniel has really good feet - he gets the ball out of his feet very well - but what's even more impressive is his awareness. The video you selected is only available to LFCTV Online members. Suarez fires for 2-0 "He knows what's going on around him and that's a quality which is difficult to coach into a player - you've either got it or you haven't. "I'm convinced that if Daniel had been fully match fit and sharp when we played Manchester United we would have come away from Old Trafford with at least a draw. "For a partnership to work together like Suarez and Sturridge did on Saturday - in what was their first start in the same team - was remarkable. "The moment when Sturridge let the ball run through his legs for Suarez to race onto usually only comes when players have spent months learning each other's movements and games. "For partnerships to click like that players have to have a football brain - and clearly both Suarez and Sturridge both have plenty of game-intelligence." {LINK}
I always remember us trying to find a perfect partner for Torres, many thought Keane would be exactly that. Finally looks like we've found a great partnership!
Yep, this was my thoughts and I said something similar yesterday (when I got shot down for appearing to criticise Allen ). Three games is far too early but it is an encouraging start much like Allen's start was with his 90%+ pass rating. I'll wait until the end of next season before judging both
Suarez and Torres...no don't think so. Torres likes to work on his own thats why he didn't gel with drogba. Think Suarez is more adaptable,more a team player and doesn't sulk. I watched Torres on Sunday and he just looks a shadow of what he was for us. He just doesn't want to be there and if benetez is not kept on as manager at the end of season I think they may get rid of Torres.
Thought that too mate, I always thought it was just his confidence but it really does look like he's lost everything that was good about his game. Shame really, I agree that the partnership probably wouldn't of worked, you can't get the best of both players when they're together
Can't agree with that, I think Suarez is every bit as selfish as Torres was. Both would rather do it all on their own but both were able to pass when they needed to too. Personally, I think it looks a very tasty partnership on paper but I'm not convinced it would have worked. I certainly wouldn't have worked in Kenny's 442 or 4411 system. With BR's 433, Suarez could operate from one of the wide spots with Torres centrally so possibly but I couldn't see it myself. Torres certainly isn't anything like his old self. His movement is still good but his acceleration isn't as good as it was. His confidence took such a blow that his finishing will never be what it was either IMO.
Suarez and Torres could have worked, but it would have taken time. We played a lot differently when we had Torres and I'm not sure Suarez would have had the type of freedom he does now at that point. Torres worked because he was pacy and could finish like RVP, Suarez works because he can dribble around a player. If together, Suarez would always be looking to dribble around a player and Torres would always be looking for that killer ball.
Aldo loves a knee jerk does John Suarez and Sturridge looked decent but Norwich were so piss poor defensively I'd wait a while until we judge them. What I did like about Sturridge second half especially was that he played well when he dropped off. Not just holding the ball up well but spotting passes straight away. Suarez instinctively went long as soon as Sturridge dropped off and vice versa.
I'd take Torres back on loan in the January window if the Chavs paid two-thirds of his wages like they did with Shevchenko and Crespo. View to a permanent move for @ £10m and wages @£50k per week.
