http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_6969133,00.html I know the articles mainly about Nolan, but it mentions Smith has been told he can leave . I would expect hes on pretty healthy wages at Newcastle, but he could definitely do a job in my opinion.
Fairly big-name signing i suppose, and would give the defensive qualities that may give Danns etc. play with more freedom in attack. I've been told that he's a bit slow and can't keep up with the play. Not seen it myself, just what a toon fan mate of mine told me.
He's on £2.5m a year and has another year to run on his contract, non-starter. Though that's not stopping TWS fans thinking he's going there.
No, he used to be a striker but now he can play defensive midfield and, this is the most important thing, isn't worried about getting stuck in when the opposition are physical like pretty much every other player we have in the squad. If we're going to be stuck with a player on those wages we might as well make it be one that we're prepared to play, wants to play, and that gives us something we've lacked for the last 10 years whenever Ashbee hasn't been in the midfield.
He is a Phil Brown type signing. Absolute non starter. I think he would do a very good job, but as others have already posted, his lucrative wages mean we would never even think about trying to acquire him. He's also an ex Leeds player. TWS can have him for all I care
Thats very different ! Leeds fans hate Nick coz they think he screwed their club in times of financial meltdown. (Think us and Bullard) . Funnily enough, i think they were correct. Nice one Barms !
Erm I believe he is on 60k a week, poor Jimmy might demand a raise if we sign someone on more money than him. Probably not a good move
60k a week?!? For an ex-Man U has been? We could sign the rest of their reserves for that (not to mention resale)!
