    To be fair...if the Sunderland fan thought the signed shirt was worse....Shearer probably meant the shirt. Even if he meant Ebola...it was a joke back at the Sunderland fan, who started it.

    I like Shearer, always has passion for his home club. One of my fave strikers when growing up.

    Agreed.
    The problem is, when it's something trivial like this, we just laugh at it - but it shows how easily a change of emphasis, word order or selective quoting can radically alter the meaning of something. Journalists use these methods in far more serious situations to influence the public and demonise people unjustly.
