I was thinking earlier if we had signed the 2 strikers on my thread title i feel we would've been more successful in europe, i would have no doubt that Gabriel Batisuta would be a success with us, he would be in our top scorer in the premier league, i read a quote of his a couple of weeks ago that intrested me he said that he would've won the ballon d'or if he came to us i agree, in his prime he was one of the best strikers in the world and i just feel with our manager at the helm, he would've been the best player in the world. Alan Shearer would've developed his game further if he had joined us, he was one of the best strikers the premier league has ever seen and of course we would've won alot more premier league titles if he was with us. Do you think these 2 players would've been a success if they had joined us ?
I am sure United could have been more successful especially with Shearer though in saying that we pretty much dominated domestically anyway without him. I am sure deep down he regrets turning us down twice despite his what he claims in public. With regard to Batisuta we were off and on linked with him and he was a great striker particularly for Fiorentina and for Roma. His strike record for his national team also was impressive. Not sure if he could have adapted to the United style and playing in England. For that reason Shearer would have been the better of the two.
I think both would have been outstanding for us. I seem to remember reading before Shearer joining Newcastle he actually wanted to sign for United but Blackburn would deal with us due to something that happended during the Berg transfer ?
Exactly. No doubt both were great strikers but I remember how Veron struggled at United and he was a WC player yet England and our style didn't suit him.
