I wouldn't say best ever manager but absolutely most successful, I have an extremely high regard for Terry Cooper, he is right up there for me.
I agree. Both were brilliant but with very different challenges to overcome. It’s hard to compare them imho. Dicks probably couldn’t have done what Cooper did and visa versa.
Alan Dicks took us to the promised land. Terry Cooper took over at an extremely challenging time and brought us back from the brink. Different skill sets, both served our club admirably IMO, both are my favourite managers in my time, next I think is Cotts for the season we won L1 with trillions of points, and p$$s pot trophy cup thingy.
I liked Cotts, that season was the best success wise since Dixcie, he made us Champions of that league and did we walk tall.
First time I’ve experienced winning the league, I know it was only L1, but even with the 70’s team we didn’t win the league, and to win at Wembley too was amazing, I loved every minute
Much as I despised GJ's ridiculous nepotism he has to be 'right up there'. Promotion from L1 and the closest we're likely to be to the Premiership. You have to respect him..........whatever.
Agree - GJ has to be up there with the best of them. Those playoff games vs Palace were 2 of the most enjoyable and exciting games I’ve ever seen us play in.
Surprising selection for number 5 RR!! I didn’t think he was as bad as some on here and OTIB did - they would have you believe he was the devil incarnate - but not sure even I would have him as 5th. Probably Joe Jordan for me. LJ would definitely be in my top 10 - but that’s more of a sad reflection on our dire managers than bigging Lee up - we have had some utter dross over the years. …. and that’s coming from a ‘lover’ ……!!!!!
1. Alan Dicks for giving us top flight football 2. Gary Johnson for promotion to championship and so close with playoff final for the prem etc 3. Lee Johnson for giving us stability in the championship 4. Cotts for league one champions and Mickey mouse cup 5. Terry Cooper for saving us from the brink of destruction
Totally valid choices. Wilson would feature too - but the runaway leaders (for me) would be Dicks and Cooper.
Not at all Supcon. There was a time when I loved his humour/quips and appreciated he gave his all for BCFC, even tripping that horrible Cardiff striker (sorry Clingo).
