Pretty **** really, imo....but what's your thoughts, is Poyet of his rocker?

GUS POYET says Sunderland need to give Adam Johnson a platform to be the Black Cats’ dangerman.

Johnson netted his first Premier League goal since last season’s derby victory at St James’s Park when he grabbed the opener in Saturday’s defeat to Tottenham.

The England winger came back into the team against Spurs after being confined to a substitute’s role in the previous two games with Aston Villa and Chelsea.

But head coach Poyet retains his belief that Johnson can be an integral figure for Sunderland in their battle to create the goals necessary to beat the drop.

The former Brighton boss admits though that basement boys Sunderland are yet to produce a performance which makes the most out of Johnson’s talent.

I keep hoping that AJ will recover his form, whether he will is another matter.
Man City under Mancini killed a few careers, anyone remember Michael Johnson & Wayne Bridge?

He has the talent for sure. Belief seems to be a bit of an issue. He should be taking defenders on aggressively all the time. He'll get tackled a lot, but he'll also get past a few and therein lies our hopes of supply for Fletch, Jozy and Borini. If he picks his game up and Giaccherini continues to adapt we may yet see a vast improvement.

Wish we had Magic Johnson and Winterwasp back though :(

He can dribble but he's doesn't pass a ball with the comfort you'd expect from a 10m+ ex City player does he?

On his day, he is our best player. He just needs to be on his day more often.
Just waiting for Stu to come and tell us all how **** he is.....

That's probably because he failed to develop at City. He stood still and maybe he was guilty of becoming complacent once he got his 'big move', it happens to plenty of players.

He has a very talented skill set but doesn't seem to know how to use it for the good of the team.

I think he needs to rediscover the drive he had a 'Boro to succeed, put the team first and who knows, he may even challenge for the LW spot in the World Cup squad, who's his competition... Young, Downing, Milner? Not impossible, surely that's incentive enough.

Has a brilliant left foot, but he's more or less redundant for me on the right wing, hopefully Poyet will continue playing him on the left.

Winger on the natural side this season how done nothing but leave our lone striker isolated time and time again. I'd rather have him inside right with Giacc as an inside left so we can actually turn the loan striker into a front 3 on the attack. Don't want AJ on the left myself. What's the point of whipping crossed into nobody which is what has been happening without inside forwards. Tried and tested, doesn't work.

Not bringing Mancini in three and a half years ago is where it all went wrong, why have we not done a Man c or Chelsea, the answer is NO ambition. I don't mind one or two seasons of success (champions league run, f a cup, premier league etc) so before I go I can a least a savoured something from the appalling 30+ years of support. What happens if we go down, who will blame who Murray has been gone years now, and what was Short's goal when he came here ?, never heard a thing about his ambition and his concerts look as though they will be heading to Newcastle in the future. That game at WHU is not just vital for us now but for the next 5 years +100's of jobs and economy, so I hope these players are reading this and realise that we might do a Portsmouth, and all this started in 1985 when Murray opted for Mcmenemy instead of Brian clough, how many more mistakes( Wilkinson, Keane although he did get us up, Di canio, Bruce, Poyet etc,etc )

Someone come on here and try to argue that I am wrong, because you know I am right. And some of these posters must work for SAFC !.

Poyet seems to have instilled confidence in quite a few of our players and that's a big part of his job -he's right, this is Johnson's opportunity to get his career back on track and he needs people to play their hearts out for the lads. If this is how he does it and he gets players like Bardsley working hard and fighting for his Scotland shirt. Let's not beat ourselves up here, we have been a difficult team to penetrate in defence (Wes), plus we've knocked the ball about, looked threatening in attack and played like decent team.

Then of course we got ****ed all over the park for by Tottenham, who made us look like ...the table doesn't lie -we were dreadful and I don't even want to talk about it any more <stillupset> <wah>

Let's suppose, what the **** and we go straight back the way we've been playing? Gus's looked at the team and tried a few players out and now I think he knows who he wants out. We may have been outclassed by the spuds, yet otherwise against Chelsea, Man City ...Aston Villa away?

We all need to keep that confidence alive, so sing your ****ing hearts out for the lads :emoticon-0172-mooni

    Phew, where to start?

    A club of what size?

    Sess walking out?

The only think we will agree on, is, in this prem run, we are no further forward than when we first came up, 7 years ago.....

It's not a sky club, it will not be missed from the prem, if the worst scenario happens.
