Aintree.

That's a bit of a flawed article.

It wasn't a 'hurdle race',it was a steeplechase. The horse never 'fell' at the last,it landed awkwardly and it's back legs seemed to slip from under it but it kept going and ran in a true straight line,I'm not sure on how many reminders he gave it on the run in but he did his best to win the race, that's his job.The jockey reported that he never felt anything untoward until he crossed the line and he immediately dismounted.

Vets, animal welfare officers and the jockey were summoned to the stewards room and the general opinion was that the jockey had no way of knowing that the horse was badly injured as it never lost its action. The horse ran true and straight after the final fence and trust me,if that jockey knew that the horse was seriously injured he'd have pulled it up(The fact that I backed the 2nd horse should indicate that I didn't see anything untoward or I'd be calling the jockey every name under the Sun).

I've been betting on the horses for 52 years and I took no pleasure in the outcome of this race. The jockey,Trainer and Owner are all gutted over the incident and they don't deserve this flawed Daily Mail article making out that the jockey is some sort of hideous monster who's only intention was to win the race regardless...

I know some people don't like the Sport and rather it were banned,it's entirely their choice but articles like this telling blatant untruths to sensationalise the incident are poor at best.

If they banned the whip, we could at least see if the horse wanted to run or not.
