Hessenthaler has said that we will have the money if the right player comes along, Really doubt it is much, Probably Scally's penny jar is being emptied out and he can't be bothered to get them changed into notes so he has given it to Hess, bet it is a very low amount But it could come in handy.
Just hope it is not spent on bad players from Non league, If we go to get any from non league here is my list,
Adam Birchall, Michael West, Magnal Viera, Alan Connel and maybe a few others.
I would rather us bring in some good players from Free agents than pay for someone from Non league who is just average in Non league, Only get players from Non league if they stand out from the crowd.

Although I support Hessy, I'm not convinced by these words...

Sorry but I disagree, have we missed the whole point here, we've lost our top goal scorers regardless of reasons, Cody, Bayo, Barcham, need I go on. The front line was never our problem in an otherwise dis-jointed team, yet now the front line is a problem!

I find myself repeating those words in frustration...''We’ve still got a decent squad'' - what? we never had a decent squad in the first place, an over sized one maybe, that in also repeating previous words, anything but promotion is a failure or something along those lines - so let's put that in prospective, we are saying a decent squad that failed, a decent squad that no longer includes Cody, Bayo, Barcham.

Hessy echoed my thoughts in saying about quality previously, can't remember if he used the words instead of quantity but that is what was needed.

So let's look again at those journalists words...

So what is regarded as a competitive price, what is regarded as to much, yeah, that may vary from player to player?

I ask myself, what happened to Cody, this was a player that I thought wanted to be with the club, how or what are we basing this competitive price on?

Ok, have to be realistic and say Cody probably out of our price bracket, so that leads me on to Northampton, again does this come down to finances, Northampton can afford him but we can't?

I'll finish with this comment from that article...
''Obviously quite a few people are frustrated because we haven’t done much business yet.''

My response to that is these two previously noted words: quality, leader.

In my opinion which you may disagree with we do have a decent squad with good ability in most areas and to be fair to hess he has cleared a lot of the rubbish players out and we have a lot of promising youth coming through (i thought callum davies looked pretty good, obviously before he got sent off!). We do just need a few players, 4-5 you'd hope but you can't bank on how many players we can get in on the budget and i'd rather quality not quantity but we can still get a good striker or two, a goalie and a versatile pacy winger at least you'd think and then we would have a team worthy of challenging in this league you'd think surely?
 
I think what frustrates me is that because we have lost Cody, Bayo, Barcham, most conversations seem to centre around the fact they need to be replaced.

IMO as I have already said that was never the problem but is now an additional one.

Have we got a decent squad, imo NO - we have some decent players, in J Payne, M Lawrence even Rooney. They don't make a squad, as for Martin many rate him, I still hold my view on that one again until next season, now Barcham has gone. Richards, I've witnessed enough (that like Gowling) he cannot hold his man, now you can blame Sinclair for that but imo not a decent player.

It's all right me having my opinions but what would I do to put it right?

Let's start with tactics, I remember seeing Stevenage at Priestfield last season, we were up against a physical strong side and all we kept doing was launching the ball in mid-air down field. Now if we plan on doing that this season and play League Two style football, bring yourself some big lads in. What's the point of pace down the wing, if like last season, Barcham was seen screaming for a ball that was never coming.

I would prefer to see the ball played on the turf, with pace down the wings, however, Hessy chooses the tactics and imo needs to choose one style where the players at least fit the mould.

The only question this leaves me with is, if we have a decent squad already, what tactical mould do they fit?

brb unfort with a player like bayo up top hoof ball was always gonna be the main option and tbh if you look back at the goals of the season how many of them came from long balls into the big man that he either flicked on or took under control and redistributed, over half of them i'd have said. trouble we had last year was not winning the second ball often just piling the pressure on ourselves
