Maybe the last throw of the dice for Steve Lansdown before he says enough is enough. The names being thrown around IMO are not unrealistic, many will want to rekindle their careers and we could be the club which could do just that. Itâs still the case that we could be a big club if directed in the right way......we need to start with a top manager IMO. Aim low and thatâs what we will get, aim high and you never know. Thatâs the problem with most City fans, one signing from Kilmarnock and all get excited.....really??? Come on people, lets push for the big time, decent manager, decent players, decent academy and a decent Stadium, may just lead us to the Premiership.. Come on SL, you have more money than most of us can only dream about, you want success, your visions for the club have been well documented...........by you! Pull the strings SL, fulfil your dreams and ours.....this maybe your last chance.
The chance of doing the things that you advocate onefour should have been done when GJ left. We missed that opportunity because we didn't have the ambition, or money, to improve the team and sort out the dross. I agree with everything you say and now someone needs to convince SL but I don't think he's listening again which is so sad.
The board have shown they would be willing to employ the likes of Steve Coppell and got their fingers very badly burnt. I really hope we can get a high quality manager in with bags of experience. I think we are all gonna be very disappointed with the outcome though!
No thanks Cidered, now that would be the downfall of us! clutching at straws, but if SL fancied digging deep................How about Glen Hoddle, with Wilkins as assistant......Now that is a shout.................I know, i'm dreaming!!
I did change that comment, didn't want to cause another row on here. All us fans need to get behind the next man regardless if he is not our choice and do what we done towards the end of last season and lift the team to safety
Depends what you mean by realistic........Read the article, where does the club want to go??..that's the question the board needs answering. IMO, No to SOD, he had his chance before we appointed Del. What I would really like is for the board to take on a manager team that has the credentials & experience to build & progress our club long term......for me Glenn Hoddle would be spot on, Is that realistic ? I can’t see why not.
Another story one4...so its Glen Hoddle for you then, must agree with you there, would be the perfect appiontment!!...dont think that will happen though, he will not come here!
I must say of all the names being banded , i would definitley agree with Onefor, aim high, but i think Glen Hoddle is just to high, mind, saying that, whoever we appoint, has got a monumental task, i think we are heading for league one.
We are heading for League 1 Alan that's for sure, lets plan for next season now...first step play the youngsters, we a have few super players, Wes Burns, Bobby Reid must play next week, there our future, wonderful players COYR's
If I'd earned £290million last year I'd go for Gary Neville. Never going to happen though, Lansdown won't push the boat out that far.
Maybe it would do us both good......Hoddle to get back into the action...what better place to do it! McGhee can't be our manager as he was one of our agents!!
Whilst Hoddle was undoubtedly one of the most talented footballers I have seen, he now runs his own successful coaching Academy in Spain so who says he wants to come back into management and get fired again (eventually). Plus, it is now 7 years since he managed and as you are so keen to tell me, football has moved on. Finally to top it all, I don't think that he will ever really be fully rehabilitated from the Eileen Drewery affair, it will lurk in the shadows like a skeleton in the closet... This is not intended as a contrarian post, it is my genuine feeling on the subject plus, I think his name is a very, VERY long way down the list (if on it at all)... One final point, you keep going on about throwing big money at a quality signing but this all counts in the turnover figure under FFP and would reduce the amount available for players even more...
