Paolo Di Canio has been monitoring CSKA Moscow's versatile forward Ahmed Musa and is preparing to make a mega money offer for the 20-year-old. The player, who is comfortable playing in midfield or up front, scored 11 goals in 28 league games last season.
Sunderland scouts were sent to Russia two months ago and prepared a dossier on the CSKA #7. The scouts were sufficiently impressed with what they saw of the former VVV Venlo player, and identified the player as a possible signing for the summer.

The Black Cats have a somewhat limited budget to spend on new players, but with the expected departure of Simon Mignolet and Stephane Sessegnon, there will be money in the transfer kitty. Di Canio will need to spend at the very least 9 million Euros to persuade CSKA to sell one of their best young players.

The player has been present during Nigeria's Confederations Cup campaign, as the African side looked to progress into the next round. Sunderland were monitoring Musa during the tournament. The player should have no problem securing a work permit in England as he has already played in more than 70 percent of Nigeria's last games.

Maybe a direct replacement for Sess if we are to let him go

He has a lot of potential and unlike most of the African lads he actually has a final ball judging on what I have seen on the Con Fed cup.

Money well spent if it is around the £6/7 Mill mark and boy does this lad have pace so even if we dont get this guy at least we are looking in the right areas and at the right player profile, still makes me shudder thinking how slow we were last season.

Oh no! Not another one! I get the feeling that we wont get any of the players that we have been linked with thus far! Not a single one!!!!

i kind of don't like the words, striker-can play in midfield. right back-can also play centre half. Right winger-can also play in goal (only joking).I get the feeling we have done that before and it hasn't gonedown well. We need players playing in their strongest position full stop.

Looked good in the Confed, one of their better players.

Means summat, as they looked a very decent side to me, a little unlucky to lose to Uruguay, and certainly caused Spain a few problems.
