That is the one transfer that I couldn't understand. It all pointed to him being a great player for us but it never materialised, now he's supposedly be watched by Arsenal.

I always thought he looked very capable in his appearances and was bemused he didn't get more game time. Elmo was in great form so can understand him not taking the wing back berth but there were times we were crying out for someone to play in midfield, most specifically a holding midfielder, and Bruce opted to play his son and Boyd in the middle instead.

Despite making the initial error which led to Wolves goal in his only start, he was far and away the est player on the park for either team that day and should have retained his place.

Don't know about Arsenal but he's certainly a lot better than the treatment cushion face gave him.

He should've played a lot more when he was here, I don't know why he didn't. He's a vastly experienced international footballer with plenty of talent and when you get a player like that coming to you in the Championship, you know you're doing something right. It's a shame he didn't get played more, I think he'd have made our promotion a bit easier.

Good luck to him. He never got a fair shake with us and was arguably the most talented, and certainly the most versatile, of our three Egyptians. Would love to see him signed by Arsenal or another Prem club.

He was the best player on the pitch at wolves.

He should have got far more game time with us, I've no idea what was going on, but he barely got a look in and when he did he looked good.

Another one of the same opinion here. I thought he looked more than decent and kept wondering when he was going to get a run in the team... it never came. Odd.

The less a player plays the better he gets...

Yes, when I saw him, I thought he looked quite lively. Seemed a bit rusty, but seemed to have potential.

However, the coaches and manager have a far better idea of what a players like than we could from some bit part appearances so if they decided at the time he wasn't for us, he wasn't for us.

From what I remember, Sunderland recalled Elmo and we brought in Gedo & Fathi. Fathi would have been used as a right wing back to do the Elmo role, but then suddenly we get Elmo back who Bruce favours and Fathi wasnt really needed anymore..

End of the day the tactics & players he picked won us the games that got us promoted. In Bruce we trust!
