Our long awaited signing-Juan Agudelo has been denied a work permit!! The times this sort of thing happens to us .Why ??
I remember reading something along the lines for an American player to get a work permit to play in England, they have to have played in certain percentage of the national team's games. Agudelo hasn't really end for the national team other than a few appearances which if I remember correctly were back when Bob Bradley was still the head coach. There's ways to get exceptions during the process but I'm not sure what they are or how they work.
Mental that a bloke who would be pouring tens or hundreds of thousands of pounds back into the economy per year in tax would be refused the right to work here. I know it's a bit more complex than that but other teams seem able to circumvent the rules and sign a player that rarely plays for his national team.
This is a ridiculous situation... Tony Scholes/ Hughes etc whoever dealt with this so called signing. SHOULD have KNOWN the rules. I remember is was Scholes who stayed in the U.S. after our summer tour, to sort this out???? HOW many more times will this TOOL be allowed to deal with our potential signings? I'm well hacked off about this tbh, but going on our past record... Ba and a few other player's. Can't say I'm that shocked.
Didn't the same thing happen with Shea? Is think there's still a decent chance we could get him, I've heard the same as Manobear, (% of national games) but Klinsmann said he would have picked him for the US team if to for injuries.
