@BenPearceSpurs No groundbreaking news on the NDP. No specific time frame, the club are still looking at how to finance it. Levy did say there is no Plan B for the NDP: 'Failure is not an option. We will find a way to get this project done'. Total cost of the failed bid for the Olympic Stadium was £1.7million. Not particularly good news there, but hey we are committed to the project.
We're going to need a big new stadium in the next couple of years if we continue to improve so lets hope they get that started soon.
Well this news pretty much ensures the earliest we'd see a stadium is four years time, so I'm afraid that's not going to happen YV. Realistically, the earliest I can see a new finished stadium that we are playing in will be 2016.
I guess you could look at it like that HD, but that in itself is bad news. There was hope that the AGM would bring an announcement of good news. The fact that we still have insufficient finance in place means that after 10 years in charge ENIC are still at least 5 years away from completing a new stadium (IMHO). While the finance isn't there, even 2016 can slip into 2017 and so on. Just as 2002 slipped into 2003 and so on, despite expanding our stadium capacity in one way or another being both an announced (By ENIC) and obvious priority.
Yep, it is bad news without doubt YV. It takes so long to get these projects finished, even when the 'get go' is announced. Especially in our case, as we are (IIRC) going to build one bit of the stadium, play a season in a partly finished stadium, then finish it off. AFAIK, not all the compulsory purchases necessary for the stadium are completed yet. The Govt grants and transport help are still in discussion mode/not sufficient yet for us. There's a long, long road ahead on this one. If I was to bet, I'd bet that the stadium will finally be finished and being played in by 2018 at the earliest. However, if anyone said, 'nope it'll happen by 2016', I wouldn't argue, if they had decent sources. Any earlier date, and whatever source they had, I would be highly sceptical.
http://www.insideworldfootball.biz/...d-for-olympic-stadium-insists-tottenham-chair Interesting background to events. Talks of a 66,000 stadium, new plans or mistake? We're also claiming we were duped into bidding for Stratford.
Fair point HBIC. In many ways I'm glad we were duped into bidding for Stratford, because I'm hoping the fiasco that followed has helped to ensure West Ham won't be allowed to rip up the track, which I suspect was their intention. As with many issues, time will tell. Will West Ham get a worse or better deal, because we were 'duped' into running against them? We'll have to wait and see. Will West Ham even end up there, it's not certain, but I would say 99.9% they will.
