I have a bit of man worship where Lucas is concerned. To see a man with thick skin, work ethic and no excuse personality in this age is a breath of fresh air and an image that should be stamped into all our academy players heads. Im mixed about Agger. Part of me wished he'd been more injury free. The other part says if he had; he'd have gone to Barcelona or Madrid 2 years ago!
Know what you mean about Agger,hed be perfect for Barce,and once they saw him play regularly I think he would comfortably make the side too, thats how high I rate him.But the fact he picks up constant niggles means he seems to go under the radar regards ever leaving.Most underated player we have IMO, opposition fans dont realise how good he is With Lucas, I must admit it startin to enter my head that perhaps we should possibly make him captain some time soon,It d would be awkward to do with Stevie n Reina though, but hes perfect captain material, I reckon Brazil captain in 2014.If Stevie got injuries next season Id consider it
I wouldn't be surprised to see Lucas playing for Barcelona. Much better player than Busquets! We all know Agger is a top defender. However, how long can we keep relying on him, knowing that he will be injured at some point of the season? It just disrupts our season, our defence becomes leaky and we drop points.
I like the thought of Lucas being captain. I don't see him being a vocal captain like Gerrard but he would certainly lead by example, more like Hyypia. Either way, he represents everything a footballer should have - the technical ability and the right attitude to succeed and persevere through adversity.
Vidic wants his knees back... I admit I do like Vidic. If injury free, Vidic and Agger would make a good pairing.
I think Agger would partner Vidic, replacing Ferdinand/Smalling/Jones/Evans (which is bloody incredible depth to have by the way). The key about Agger and Lucas is that they're assured on the ball, and allowed us to play out from the back much better when they were both fit. Agger also balanced Skrtel perfectly, who's twice the defender when on the right hand side.
Depends how you define world class. To me, world class means you would get into the World squad and IMO, neither Agger or Skrtel would. In other words there are four or five central defenders out there that are better than them IMO Lets give Lucas a chance to get to playing football first. He suffered a very seriously injury that could effect his game, we won't know this until he actually returns. In other words, he's got enough on his plate without the captaincy to boot. Plus, IMO, Gerrard should still be captain and will continue to be for a couple more seasons yet.
Vidic isnt in the same League as Agger when they are in possesion of the ball, Vidic is good at hoofing the ball when it needs to be hoofed, but Agger is the miles classier player
Different types of defenders. Vidic is a destroyer, Agger is more of a Ferdinand/Pique type of defender. As Aurelio said, that's why they would work well as a pairing. A fit Vidic is a world class destroyer-type central defender. Is Agger a world class ball-playing type of central defender? Not in my book, not at this stage anyway.
