what a strange thing to get excited about guru. and you find it funny? isn't royle one of your best managers, certainly in the modern era? didn't he do a brilliant job with no money? isn't he widely regarded as one of the best english managers of the past 25 years? isn't he enormously respected by everyone throughout the game?

pick on us for appointing a novice as manager, by all means, but joe royle is a very astute piece of business and you know it. dave's right - you're very predictable. truth be known, i'd rather he were number 1. i reckon he'd get us flying out of this division and back to the premier league at the first time of asking.

hang on, so a manager of a football club celebrates a goal?! whatever next???

    nobody cares guru.

he used to play for norwich but i bet the thought never crossed his mind when danny haynes kic...punched the ball in the net. likewise, if russell martin lobs the ball in the net next season and everyone except the ref sees it, i doubt he'll be thinking of how he used to manage ipswich as he dances in the technical area (or wherever the hell he'll be - seriously, we're going to have too many staff to fit them on the bench!).

its a job. i'm sure he is very proud of his tenure at ipswich, and so he should be - he got you guys playing some great stuff.

We do banter with no problem, just not your incorrect definition of it!

I mean, do you even realise that he played for us before he managed you lot?

you'd like to think so but to be fair hoppers, some of our neanderthal fans have been abusing royle as a binner on twitter and when told he also used to play for city had no idea! i suppose anyone younger than 30 would not associate him with my club. it was a long time ago now... in fact, he was our player of the season the year i was born.
