New arrival off the mark with deflected strike.

Kieran Agard declared his delight after bagging his first City goal at the weekend.

The striker opened his account for his new club on his third appearance with the final goal in Saturday’s 3-0 home victory over Doncaster Rovers.

It was a result which lifted City to the top of Sky Bet League One and extended their winning run to three matches.

“I’m delighted to get off the mark. I thought the boys were fantastic today and we’re delighted to be top of the league,” Agard told Bristol City Player.

The £750,000 arrival from Rotherham United was in the right place at the right time to convert Joe Bryan’s cutback after the wing-back had caught Doncaster’s Reece Wabara dallying in possession.

"nbsp;"“When he dispossessed him I just thought to myself ‘get in the box’; I’ve seen him coming and just tried to get myself a bit of space,” Agard revealed.

“I’ve checked back, he’s given me the ball, I’ve taken a touch and it’s got deflected but I’m delighted it’s gone in.

“The keeper pulled off a few good saves and I came out of my shell after that – I was playing with freedom and the boys were fantastic feeding me.

“I’m getting fitter all the time and you only get that by playing games. At the moment I’m feeling good.

“They’re a terrific bunch of lads who all made me feel welcome from the first day I got here. It’s going from good to better and I’m delighted to be a part of it.”

1st of many. He can get 20 this season and who knows, so could Wilbraham!

I imagine there will be a lot of pressure on him to succeed, considering that he's a replacement for the top scorer in League 1 last year. I'm glad that he's opened his account, and I expect more from him once he settles into the team.

That being said, Wilbraham is on fire this season!
