Surely it will? Thinking about it the new face lift for AG will go in favour of the protesters. "They don't need a new ground when they could redevelop the current one like they have already planned" If I was a neutral I would pretty much agree with the protesters. Why have a new ground when you could redevelop the one you have now and which you have already planned and sorted. I still have no idea when we get a yes or no regarding AV. I know there is something happening in October, Is that the final decision? Its dragging on far too long now and I like every other city fan just want a solid yes or no!
I have just overheard a conversation about this with Dave Lloyd, he seems to think that SL will continue to fight for that land whatever, to the bitter end and will never give up. however the VG inspector Ross Crail may indeed decide that the land does not qualify as a village green on this occasion but the SAVE campaign will then start the process of appeal again, it is anticipated this could go on for another 5 or 6 years in further ever decreasing circles again. I am of the opinion now I have seen the plans etc, you are more likely to see housing at Ashton Vale rather than any football stadium sometime in the future.
What ****s me off about the whole AV business is that NO ONE is saying anything. The last time I checked, the protestors were being slated for purposely delaying the reviews, which is why we have to wait so long considering we're effectively back at square one. What I want is a one-page message from the board and Steve Lansdown, stating exactly what is going on regarding Ashton Vale, and whether we're still fighting for it or not. It really wouldn't be hard for Lansdown and co to arrange this. As I understand it, in October there will be another judicial review, so a decision will be made then. However, since we're back at square one I assume this means that the idiots can appeal any decision. One plus point is that now the council are no longer involved, meaning that if Lansdown wanted to he could throw money at fancy London lawyers and put a very convincing and damning case for us to get the stadium. According to the council, since Bristol City own the land they have been allowed to start building since 2011, but obviously Lansdown doesn't want to start anything until he is absolutely sure that the stadium is ours. I think we'll pull out of Ashton Vale, but in theory if the review goes to plan then Ashton Vale is on. At least, this is as I understand it. The judicial review is there to see if the land should be a town green or not. If not, then we can build.
Read this link Ender from april, it does explain a few things... http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/Stev...y-s/story-15702832-detail/story.html#axzz2XEx
That reads beautifully. I'm glad to hear that Lansdown is as ****ed off as the rest of us. However, that was April in 2012, and a year and a relegation may have changed things for Lansdown. Still, if I were him I'd ditch any plans for Ashton Gate to be redeveloped and would focus my financial clout on getting that land. If we do get that land, I'll run down to the land and dig the ****ing thing up myself.
If it goes against us planting Japanese knotweed and poison ivy on the ground would help piss off the Nimbys I'd love to see their faces when the Knotweed and Ivy invaded their manicured lawns.
The situation is that, as we all know the protesters have put the spanner in the works and can do so until their money runs out or they give up or are beaten. The interesting thing is that say they have a house valued at £200k and the stadium might devalue it by £40k its not out of their pocket as they most probably will die and house gets left. So really that is not an argument I would go with. There is a constant stream of appeals............ALL COST MONEY, AND FOR THEM they will get stressed (they already are) the blood pressure gets boiling and the health gets worse so they die earlier.....I don't stress, what will be will be, and the end result for them will be a lot more pleasant, developed as proper parkland etc. in the mean time they are probably spending money from savings or borrowing whereas SL uses interest etc without touching his capital.... who is the clever one...... the money runs out, people drop out need to borrow more = stress diminishing health...die earlier........ they lose the appeal the stadium goes ahead and they then stress even more and it ceases to be a worry for them..................... the argument for plans to develop Ashton gate....well ....whilst waiting for AV need to have a plan B and additional option R plan B no AV = AG is developed ready to go option R ...AV goes ahead and BRFC (Bristol Rugby Football Club) gets their own stadium and how about combining that with a state of the art athletics stadium!
PS I have 40+ sq metres of Japanese Knotweed....................cut it down burn it and it still keeps coming back...
Since Lansdown wants the full stretch of land I would love to see the club invest in an arena, since no one really believes that we'll get the arena by Temple Meads. This way, the club is the saviour of Bristol. We get the people the arena we so desperately want/need, we can get a good profit from every gig/concert hosted there, and it will be a great place for businesses to be.
