I assume it still then goes to most goals scored. If still identical it used to be then most games won, but has this been scrapped because it seems the toon are above Norwich on alphabetical order? If they achieve identical result and scoreline on Sunday, will they be deemed to finish 18th equal ? I believe if a relegation or European place was at stake then a decider match would be arranged.
No idea with that one..I have a feeling that spurs will knock a few past the mags on Sunday anyway though..
Pass. But that would be some game. Imagine if they changed the rules to match promotion. Bottom 2 go down. Next 4 play off for final spot.
Commachio1 they did do that similar only once in 1987. Leicester, Man c, and Villa went down, but Charlton who finished 4th bottom played leeds from the 2nd division. 2nd div table top. 1st Derby. 2nd Portsmouth, both promoted. 3rd Oldham 4th Leeds 5th Ipswich, they played each other and Leeds got to the final where they played Charlton and Charlton won to stay up !. It was a one off and strange. That was the season we finished 3rd bottom in the 2nd div and played in the first play off that year, and of course sadly we all know what happened.
Sounds like what they do in the SPL, bottom club drops into SC. Top club from SC goes up, then there's a match between 2nd bottom SPL vs 2nd top SC if I'm not mistaken and the winner plays in the SPL... smart logic. I'd rather not even bother.
If the rule was that a decider game had to take place, even with nothing at stake, imagine how pissed off Norwich and Newcastle players would be --- sick at being relegated, glad the seasons come to an end, bur having to play again for the privilege of being slightly better than the team who were 2nd bottom. Doubt if any crowd would turn up. Would they still award a cup for winning a playoff ? what could it be called ?
Isn't it something like £2mil for each place higher up the league? They'd have to do something to settle it surely... Maybe the just split the pot?
