African Footballer of the Year list

    Nov 9, 2011, 14:18 GMT

Johannesburg - Ghanaians and Ivorians dominate the list of African Footballer of the Year finalists released by Africa's controlling football body CAF on Wednesday.

Included among the 10 finalists are Cameroon's four-time winner Samuel Eto'o and Ivorian Didier Drogba, who has won the award two times.

Also included in the list of finalists is the son of former winner Abedi Pele, Andrew Ayew, who plays his club football for Olympique Marseille.

The 10 finalists are: Adel Taarabt (Queens Park Rangers/Morocco), Andre Ayew (Olympique Marseille/Ghana), Asamoah Gyan (Al Ain/Ghana), Didier Drogba (Chelsea/Ivory Coast), Kevin Prince Boateng (AC Milan/Ghana), Moussa Sow (Lille/Senegal), Samuel Eto'o (Anzhi Makhatchkala/Cameroon), Seydou Keita (Barcelona/Mali), Yao Kouassi Gervais 'Gervinho' (Arsenal/Ivory Coast) and Yaya Toure (Manchester City/Ivory Coast).

After all the deserved criticism, a reminder of a very special player, who we have to thank for our Prem status.

Well said Northolt. Mixing it with some real quality in that list and proof of his talent even if we've got carried away with what is only a loss of form (seen through our often blinkered eyes).

Does this mean you want him to stay Northy? Can't see Adel winning this, the judges don't rate Championship football, surely over the last year Yaya Toure has been the best!
