Bored during the World Cup qualifying break, I found a stream of the Morocco vs. Mozambique 2nd leg Africa Cup of Nations 2013 Qualifying and was hoping to see Adel getting a run out for Morocco and strutting his stuff. Score in this game is currently 2-0 Morocco (2-2 agg) However, it appears that Adel is not even on the field (mid 2nd half) or in the squad, perhaps on the bench? I note this comment:- "The result also claimed another casualty in Belgian coach Eric Gerets, who was promptly sacked by the Moroccan Football Federation, who later named Rachid Taoussi as his replacement. Gerets was already walking on a tightrope following the Atlas Lions poor showing at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations where they were eliminated in the first round, and this loss proved to be the last straw. Taoussi has placed his faith on Moroccan-based players, dropping the likes of Marouane Chamakh, Mbark Boussoufa and Adel Taarabt." Wonder if some of our other African players had games today?
I think Mali qualified so Diakite will be away for a month. Cameroon are trailing from the first leg but I don't know when they play the second. For Mbia's sake I hope they don't qualify.
I guess Morocco did okay without Adel, and at least he didn't risk injury. FULL-TIME - Morocco 4-0 Mozambique (4-2 agg) What a way to reverse a first-leg deficit and qualify with style. Morocco hit four without reply on the night to seal their place in South Africa and send a disconsolate Mozambique team out. After it had all gone so well for them in their home game, it turned into a nightmare in Marrakech for the Black Mambas. Morocco's new look, meanwhile paid off under new coach Rachid Taoussi. GOAL - Morocco 4-0 Mozambique Morocco top their incredible comeback with a fourth goal courtesy of Nordin Amrabat.
