Watched the game last night and one thing that showed massively last night.

Afobe the ball stays up front when he gets it.

Fammy the ball comes straight back and the pressure is on the midfield and defence again.

Sorry guys they are chalk and cheese.

In all fairness we also took off Palmer so he had no one to support him...
I don't think Afobe had a great game either if I'm honest..

I was at the game last night and agree with onefor. I thought Fammy was poor last night, generally poor control and failed to provide the outlet we desperately needed at times. He was isolated though for much of the time and needed more support than he got. Also agree about Adobe, promised a lot, got into some good positions but ultimately failed to deliver. Having said all that, it was an excellent performance by the team. Bentley didn’t have too much to do but when called upon but made at least two important saves. I can see why we signed him.

Really impressed with Massengo. Early days of course but we seem to have a gem there. Needs looking after though, he is young and should be rested regularly as he develops.

Bentley is a suburb keeper and athletic i rated him at Southend , i did suggest signing him back then.

However in the early day's i said we should sign Billy Sharp when at Scunny and Charlie Austin when he was at Swindon <laugh><laugh><laugh>

Can’t really agree with you there. Fammy was poor last night but seemed to try hard but just wasn’t on his game. It happens. It will be someone else on Saturday but as long as we get a result that won’t matter.
Can’t remember many times when everyone was on the top of their game.

The issue with Fammy for me has always been his first touch, it is and always has been poor. When you are upfront, and usually alone, as that's LJ's style, Fammy simply cannot keep the ball with his back to goal, and he certainly can't beat anyone for pace on the turn. For me,Fammy served a purpose, but as a team, we have moved on in our way of playing and he needs to be moved on in Jan, or play to his strengths, get wide and put the ball in the box. Admittedly he came on last night when the team were in defensive mode, so he had no support, but to me that just further highlights his lack of control, every time he got the ball he lost it immediately and put us under pressure, he has to be better at holding the ball and buying the midfield and defence some time.

I agree, they offer different things so for me Fammy is a valuable member of the squad. At least we can play long, high balls into him and on a better day he can hold the ball up and wait for support. Didn’t happen last night, when he controlled the ball he turned into the defender and lost it.
Afobe has a different type of game but we still played too many long balls into him. Can’t remember him winning any of them. Much better to play balls down the channels for him.

Famara does not work at the level Afobe or Weimann does and is blowing after a run or two. City with Afobe can press from the front with Famara they cannot. Afobe led, dropped into shape, worked East to West effectively etc … He adds tactical flexibility, Famara does not.

I didn’t see the game last night so I can’t comment, they are different players so difficult to judge, Fammy has been playing a role that doesn’t suit him, he gives everything without ever complaining , he’s the first to congratulate the team and other strikers for good performances , and his goal return , for all his misses, is pretty decent. He is what he is a decent championship striker. His attitude is first class. Ffs get off his back.
I believe Afobie is a upgrade technically from the limited time I’ve seen him , but he hasn’t exactly lit up the scoring charts yet either , missing many chances, hopefully that will change.
As a side note if Fam had missed the chances Afobie had you would be the first in line to criticise, a bit of consistency from you would make criticism of Fam more credible.

Fam didn't really have anyone to play off against Derby, once Palmer went off..
Afobe holds it up ok but also quite often loses it too..But I hesitate to criticise as it's only a few games in!!

But Fammy has always had issues holding the ball up over the seasons.

Not the quickest at turning either and his pace is questionable as well ,were afobe turns on a sixpence.
