Pompey suffered their first pre-season defeat in a 1-0 defeat away to Wimbledon. In the 27th minute, a cross from Ali Al-Hamadi deflected off Ben Stevenson for an own goal. One possible bit of bad news is that Paddy Lane limped off the pitch ! Former Pompey left back Lee Brown was in the Wombles side, but ex-keeper Alex Bass was an unused substitute. Pompey (4-2-3-1): Will Norris (sub: Josh Oluwayemi); Joe Rafferty (sub: Zak Swanson), Regan Poole (sub: Conor Shaughnessy), Ryley Towler, Conor Ogilvie (sub: Jack Sparkes); Tom Lowery (sub: Joe Morrell), Ben Stevenson; Gavin Whyte (sub: Paddy Lane), Abu Kamara, Anthony Scully (sub: Kuseni Yengi), Christian Saydee (sub: Terry Devlin). Thanks Woopert's. I feel this pre-season has been underwhelming on the following basis. Firstly the performances and results.A good set of performances would have resulted opening the season with confidence high going into the season. Secondly, I take issue with the friendlies lined up. Contrast our friendlies with those of Wrexham! Which club is going to have a higher profile in the USA now and in the future? Bolton are another club that managed to secure PL.opposition for its friendlies. Brighton are our nearest neighbours, with only 50 separating the two cities yet in footballing terms they are in another galaxy. The club should have been able to have secured a friendly against oñe of Brighton, Palace, Fulham, Brentford or Bournemouth.
