The Afan Lido Sports Centre is on the sea front and is sign posted. Welcome one and welcome all to the first in the series of, what I hope to be, informative and useful matchday threads. Obviously, this is a pre-season game against a team who I will struggle to dig up a load of information on, but I've had a look online and tried to include anything of relevance as well as create a couple of talking points. Swans squad: Ashley Williams, Neil Taylor, Steven Caulker, Alan Tate, Leon Britton, Andrea Orlandi, Craig Beattie, Danny Graham, Nathan Dyer, David Cornell, Steven Dobbie, David Cotterill, Luke Moore, Shaun MacDonald, Jose Moreira, Angel Rangel, Joe Allen, Kemi Agustien, Mark Gower, Tom Butler, Lee Lucas, Joe Walsh, Daniel Alfei, Jordan Smith, Gwion Edwards, Kurtis March. Afan Lido squad: TBC - see here for details of their squad. Brendan Rodgers has named a senior squad for this trip, and while you get the sense it might be foolish to read too much into todays team selection, you would expect to at least see him give what he currently thinks might be his first eleven a run out. As with the two games last week, this is a good opportunity for the squad to gel together a little more, as well as a great opportunity for the Swans to improve their fanbase. Like us, Afan Lido probably didn't expect to have a Premier League team in our neck of the woods, and this should provide a nice financial boost for them with the new season fast approaching. Andy Dyer's team are newly promoted to the LoW, and today will provide a stern examination of his charges ahead of the new season. Also, a special mention to Andy Mumford, still plying his trade in the LoW. I have fond memories of him at the Vetch, and he promised so much at one time before, sadly, not quite making the grade with us. It's nice to see him playing still, and I hope he and Afan Lido have a successful season. That goes for every game this season too.
Good to see the threads back mate. You must be gutted Scott..... missing the opportunity to not only watch the Swans but spend a bit of time on the world wonder that is Aberavon beach. Hope you enjoy the far inferior weather and beaches of Ibiza today!
Hah, it's ok, it's quite overcast today and we had loads of waves yesterday so the visibility in the water is pants! Hopefully better by tomorrow as I've got a group of friends from Swansea out and they want to come diving, so here's hoping! I contemplated asking Mick to create a LoW board so I could do the cross-board match thread thing, but I thought that might have been a bit cheeky
Unfortunately the visibility in the water of Aberavon beach is no better...... but it's not the waves causing that!
