Sunderland Advocaat pushing players towards exit SUNDERLAND, LATEST NEWS UPDATE: AUGUST 11, 2015 11:25 PM VIEWS: 389 Dick Advocaat believes Sunderland need to sign more players before they are able to get rid of those squad members he no longer wants. The Black Cats' head coach is eager to bring in reinforcements after watching Leicester take his side apart on the opening weekend of the season but his hands are tied somewhat as the Dutchman tries to keep within the budget set by the club. The Wearsiders have to date signed five new players for a total cost of around £15m, while they have sold Connor Wickham to Crystal Palace for £9million, meaning their net spend so far this summer is £6million. Advocaat, therefore, has a bit of cash to play with and hopes to use it to land several new signings before the transfer window shuts. Rather than adopt the sell-before-you-buy approach, the former Rangers and Russia coach believes he needs to sign players first to make it clear to the likes of Charis Mavrias, Valentin Roberge, Liam Bridcutt and Will Buckley that they no longer have a future at the Stadium of Light and force them to move on. "I always say, and maybe not everyone agrees with me, that if you bring players in, then some will go," Advocaat told the Sunderland Echo. "As a player, if I'm happy here and no-one comes in, then I think I'll have a chance. Then they're not going to go. "If we do bring players in, then some will go, with all respect to them, because they're not going to get a chance." gerrin Dick tell em straight
