Advocaat was happy with the young striker in defeat to West Ham United. “I thought Connor Wickham was excellent, I thought he really put a shift in,” said the Dutchman. “Some heads were down in the dressing room after the way the game ended (with Diafra Sakho’s 88th-minute winner). “But there are positives to take and we can take confidence from our performance. “The international break is very good timing, it gives me the chance to work more with the players."
I like the last line. It's what I thought as well. Two weeks with the guys (most of them) to prepare for his next game.
He did put a shift in. But that's the bare minimum. They all need to stop hoping someone else steps up to bail them out and step up themselves. Connor played a massive part in keeping us up last season. He stepped up. Nobody looks like doing that Conner included. Here's to Dick sorting this mess.
Connor took his chance last year as Kane has this, for some reason he hasn't kicked on, perhaps he likes Dick !
I'm glad he's impressed Dick because he hasn't impressed me. Serious work ahead for the lad if he wants to make it in this division.
Smart move by dick, I believe when Connor was recalled from his loan spell last season he relished that responsibility and the goals flowed for him, he breeds off confidence from others, Gus showed that in him and we got BPL player of the month from the fella plus some well taken goals=points... Dicks aware of this and will utilise him to the best of his ability IMO..
