In the last 24 hours, Ive had a chelsea Fan, a Spurs fan and a Palace Fan all want to lay money down on Palace finishing above NUFC.

Obviously, We've made a couple of signings, with a few more hopefully coming through and I genuinely believe we will finish above them, betting with all three fans could make me some good scratch, but then again it could cost me.

I bet with the spurs fan a small £10.00 bet that Mitro will outscore Bamford, but I'm, not willing to take any positional bets (who will finish higher than who) until I am able to see what business has been done.

We have to finish above pardew though dont we? what do you guys think?

I'd wait until the end of the preseason, because our first team have looked solid but lacking a punch. I'd personally stay away from a bet like that.

I honestly believe we will finish above Palace.
I know a few Pardew fan boys will disagree but he struggles to maintain initial impetus over prolonged periods of time.
I expect them to do ok in the first half of the season and then tail off a bit.
I can see Cabaye struggling with injuries over the winter months which will hamper their form.
For us... I expect Chancel and another 2 in with one or two periphery players of ours going out on loan, or being sold.
Overall we will start the season with a much better squad and of course a much better coaching team off the pitch too than we did last yeat
The first half of the season will see us do average at best as the team gets used to new coaching methods and systems, plus we have players to bed in.
We'll have a much stronger finish though and will likely add one or two in January also (SM has flagged how he looks across several windows).

I've tried to put people off and said Im willing to take bets on the 07/08 before any football is played, but allowing time to see what business is done. In all honesty, with Pardew at the helm, I think it will all fall apart, his just too egotistical. Did you see his training jersey? instead of having AP on the front like most having their initials, he has PARDS!

Think the mitrovic bet is a good one. Have a feeling Bamford is good championship level but will struggle in the Premiership. Wouldnt bet against Palace finishing above us - think that middle 3rd of the table could be wxtremely

Competitive this year and would be happy with falling in middle of that.

I do tend to agree and I have looked at palace and they really need another striker, Bamford and Glen Murray wont cut it in my opinion. I like Murray, but will he get 10+ a season? neither will chamack or Dwight Gayle.

Midfield looks great, Cabaye, Bolasie, Zaha, they might muster 15 odd goals between them

    Then theres the defence

Martin kelly, not a massive fan - Scott Dann, lower half of the prem quality - Delany - rubbish - Speroni and hennesy in goal isnt inspiring!

I just think they look awfull in terms of a full squad, hit by the ACON too with what appears to be a thin squad, and the final nail for me is Pardew, all it takes is one arguement and you end up with a team of players resenting and hating the manager.

Im confident that we will finish a few places above them, if we bring in the players weve been rumoured with

Seriously Palace are decent squad wise, no more. At present yes it is difficult to say we will, but I honestly believe we'll sign 2 or 3 mores now they have actually shown some intent. As long as we get at least 2 defenders I reckon we are a good bet.

Pardew massively overachieved last year. That squad was not mid table material, and nor could anyone think they'd be in top 8 form under him. Cabaye is a cracking signing, but its one player. They don't have that goal getter either as you say. I actually think Dann is pretty good, if put alongside the right type. The keepers and rest of the defence are nothing special. I think Pardew has his work cut out. They are likely to be battling relegation looking at their squad. Regardless what people think, and we know this first hand, if you don't have the players then the manager is inconsequential. He may be able to have periods where things go great but a squad short of quality and/or numbers catches up with any manager.

Palace are gonna be in the relegation scrap this year in my opinion. That clown has no idea what lies ahead for this year, he's probably still too busy wiping up his muck from signing Cabaye to realise his squad is not strong at all.

You lot lost loads of games with Cabaye in the side, he's not that good, he'll improve them of course but they don't have a lot else to brag about, especially if somebody comes sniffing for Bolasie late on in the window.

If he was English he'd be at a top 4/5 club by now I reckon.

I can't see who's want him that could easily prise him away from Selhurst though apart from Spurs. Maybe Liverpool if they're looking for some decent service for Benteke from wide.

Brenda is a dumb **** though so he won't see that.

I could have seen him at Man Utd, but they have wingers coming out of their ears. I think he'd be a great buy for Liverpool, or even Arsenal. He'd add something completely different to the latter, and he'd give Liverpool a bit of width, because at the moment they're swimming in AMs.

As much as it pains me to say it, As I hate Pardew. I reckon Palace will have a good season, they are building a very decent squad, they just need a couple of solid defenders and they're sorted.
I like Gayle up front and I do think he will get well over 10 goals this season.

He's too direct for us, Moyes would probably have liked him though.

Wanyama is the one for me, how he's still at Southampton baffles me.

Palace will be bottom 5 this season. Sunderland will finish ahead of them. Mark my words.

I wouldn't be surprised if Palace won the league with St Alan at the helm.

Don't think they'll go down, but they haven't got the players to maintain any kind of sustainable form.

At the moment neither do we, but I can see us signing maybe 2 more players, that's not including Mbemba as I believe he has already signed. Palace still need about 6.
