I know it's only been a few games he has played for you, but what do you think of him? Are fans taking a like to him?
its funny but as i assume he has only got a 1 year contract, his presence in goal seems temporary anyway. I hope that my perception of him changes but i cant see him as a permanent City player somehow.
He doesn't for some reason look that mobile to me - not the keeper I recall looking good for Brizzle City in their playoff season in 2008. See in the programme he has the number one jersey though - whilst Gulacsi is No 40 or something. I expect NP to bring another keeper in though with the young lad going back to Liverpool.
I like Basso. He's vocal (he's the first very vocal keeper I've seen in a city shirt), confident on the ball and will continue to impress. He hasn't had that much to do yet so I'm not going to judge on his shot stopping just yet.
He didn't have much to do against either Reading or Palace to be honest but he looked more confident than Gulasci did and that is reflected by the defence. I expect he'll continue to be number 1 with Gulasci heading back to Liverpool and us getting this Egyptian bloke in as cover.
huh? Vito? on his debut in the reserves at Ferriby, there were people on t'other side of the 'umber who wondered what the noise was?
Vito was funny at Ferriby, he shouted everyone'e nickname in an Italian accent, it sounded weird. Basso has done little wrong, he's certainly not ****, but I wouldn't be surprised if he dropped to No.2 when the old Egyptian joins.
I hope Basso keeps his place even if we sign the old Egypt player, at least Basso has plenty of experience in this league which is all you can ask for, Egyptian footballs probably terrible
I thought Basso was good when it came to shot stopping but dear god there was at least 2 occasions when we had free kicks taken by basso that were kicked out for a throw in
on the plus side el-hadary should not be disappearing off with others to play in the africa cup of nations from january till april. egypt are defending champions but look unliklely to qualify from their group (group 7). http://www.mtnfootball.com/africa/tournaments/african-cup-of-nations/group-standings/
So his kicking is bad? A bit like Mannone, Guzan, Duke, Myhill, Warner, etc. Every 'keeper we have is accused of being crap at kicking by the fans. Maybe they're all like that because they're goalkeepers?!
