Adrian Durham (Talk5hite presenter) reckons that Spurs is a one-man team!

Discussion in 'Tottenham Hotspur' started by Hoddle is a god, Nov 29, 2012.

  1. I'm not making this up.

On Talk5hite this afternoon, he and Goughie were doing their usual thing, where one of them takes one extreme end of a debate and the other takes the opposite extreme. Today's debate was "Are Spurs a One-Man Team?" Durham gleefully argued the case that, yes, we are a one-man team; that one-man being Bale.

I know this twat gets paid for being controversial, and that he probably doesn't actually believe half the 5hite that comes out of his mouth, but there comes a point when his position is so lame and devoid of any merit, as to be beyond farcical.

His definition of "one-man team" was:-

"Wouldn't get into any of the regular CL contenders, such as United, £ity (although how they can be called "regular" I don't know!), Chavs, Arsenal, Barca, Madrid, etc."

Therefore, according to Durham, we are a one-team, because only Bale would automatically get into any of the top teams.

He reckons that, by comparison, 'Pool is not a one-team, because they have a number of players who would walk into, say, United.

No, I promise you, I am NOT making this up! The twat actually came out with this 5hite on national radio.

'Pool had players who were superior to the likes of Dembele, Walker, Lloris, Parker, Adebayor, Defoe, Benny, Sandro, Kaboul, etc.
    <doh>

His arguments were so woolly that I cannot even be bothered to counter them.

The mere sound of his twattish voice is enough to make me what to thump him, and I am not a violent person.

The guy is a twat, he says things like that to get people to bite and keep interest in what he has to say.

On the @talksportdrive twitter account he is always tweeting saying how AvB is out of his depth etc.

Just ignore him and hopefully he will go away.

    From 6hrs ago,

I'd rather have Long and Lukaku up front than Adebayor - @talksportdrive

Unfortunately, that sums up their entire show.

Having said that, I do like Goughie. He's a simple but honest kind of bloke, and he seems to wear his heart on his sleeve. Mind you, that could simply be a function of the fact that he always seems to be given the role of "the good guy" in Durham's staged bitch-fights.

I do try not to get wound up by him, but the man has a talent for it.

I didnt hear this show (as I dont listen to Talk5hite for obvious reasons) but this is possibly the most hilarious thing I have read in a long time <laugh>. Absolutely laughable comments from obviously out of their depth radio presenters, Durham in particular is a moron of the highest order.

This argument is not even a debate, Liverpool are by far the biggest one man team you are ever likely to see.

Comedy gold! Thanks for posting <ok>

If anything, recent results state that if we are a one-man team, that one man is Dembele.

  12. Lennon is back to his old former self. Walker, England's first-choice RB, continues to improve. Kaboul is a monster at CB. Vertonghen would get into many a CL side across Europe, Defoe is currently in the form of his life, Dembele is clearly a class act and is going to be massively influential for us, Lloris is France's No.1 keeper, Parker is immense for us when he's fit, Benny is easily one of the best LB's in the world, Adebayor is a class striker, etc.

Yes, Bale is probably our best player. But, Rooney is probably United's best player. So what? The fact that we can buy, nurture and keep a player of Bale's qualities is a testament to just how great a squad we have, that he wants to ply his trade with us.

Sorry, but Adrian Durham is a no-mark tosspot.

He's a WUM. Does it to get viewers.

I think if you were to take Mata out of Chelsea, Cazorla out of Arsenal and Dembele out of Spurs then all 3 are midtable sides IMO

We all know that they're on the WUM, but Bale hasn't even been our best player this season. Sandro's been far more consistent, in my opinion.

    RVP has carried United
    Mata has carried Chelsea
    Dembele has carried Spurs
    Suarez has carried Liverpool
    Cazorla has carried Arsenal
    Fellaini has carried Everton
    Berbatov has carried Fulham

City are the most complete team in the league with Swansea and WBA not too far behind. I'm not saying Swansea and WBA are better but if you took one or two players out of their side they'd still be able to compete and the same/similar level.

Durham singling out Spurs is just stupid but he is clever to be fair to him.

    I don't think that's what DL's saying, Lidls.
I took it to mean that some sides would be able to cope with the loss of one important player better than others would. Can't say that I agree with both his examples, though.
Michu for Swansea would be a massive loss, in my opinion.

Clarke seems to have balanced the West Brom squad pretty well in the summer, though.
They appear to have decent options in most positions, but an injury to someone like Olsson could be costly.

Sorry DL, but that's a massive exaggeration. All 3 clubs have top quality players who would rise to the occasion in the absence of those players u have named.

We've not had Dembele for 6-7 weeks, or about 4 other first teamers all season and we've done better than "mid table".

Whilst the point about Liverpool is pure crap and Talksport is no doubt a massive load of loud, stupid garbage I personally would not put money on Spurs beating most EPL teams if we did not have Bale. Where's the genuine threat and danger is in our team to really be CL contenders (if Bale's out)? I'm left looking very hopefully indeed towards Aaron Lennon and hoping that he can find the sort of electric form that he had about three years ago. That's hardly a great sign. Love Lennon but he's not the quality of player that a top, top team would be relying on as their most dangerous attacker. Neither's Defoe.

I'm not saying Spurs are a one man team - I'm just saying that our performances this season have led me to have nightmares about Bale getting injured. Cos when the team's generally playing fairly disjointed like this and not really dominating teams we're gonna need little bits of brilliance - and Bale's one of the very few players in our squad now who can do that. (Defoe to a lesser extent too this year I guess but long-term Bale's in a different class IMO).

What about an on form Adebayor and a fully fit match practiced Dembele?
