This is hard but I have to be honest. On Saturday evening I knew we were going to bet hammered. So what did I do? I hid basically, I didn't follow the game on the computer, local pub, radio or anything , I got a few cans out, put a film on at 5.20 and pretended it wasn't happening. My plan was to sneak a quick look at this morning's paper to see what the extent of the humiliation was but after the film I put ceefax on at 7.30 and decided to bite the bullet. I could not believe the score Norwich 1-0 Arsenal (Holt 19) and checked it several times. When I went to bed it was like having an extra birthday, I couldn't believe it I was so happy I couldn't sleep, my other half was thrilled of course. I am 54 and should know better, I should not have doubted and now I have made public my apology. I will be tuning in for the Villa game now.

I was watching the game at my son's house as he has ESPN. My little 2 year old grandaughter kept walking in front on the screen so we all piped up "Georgie, keep out of the way" and she replied with "this is getting on my tits" apparently an often used term on a Saturday afternoon.
Well I re instated my having a Jack Daniels before the game and it worked, will have to sneak my own in cause I ain't paying that price every match !
I blagged free subscription to ESPN with Sky, just in time for the game (literally 2 hours before) - I felt it was a game I needed to see and I was not disappointed! Villa game is on Sky next week too, now that would be an early Christmas present - this is our closest thing to a Premier League derby we will get for a while.
