I was very proud of myself today and I hope you all will be too!

A few of my A-Level students didn't bother to sit a mock exam paper and they are expecting to achieve A* grades in Mathematics. Frustrated with their apathy, I decided to quote a great philosopher who once said 'Hard work beats talent if talent doesn't work hard!' It was hard to keep my grin inside!

Just thought I'd share that with you...has anyone else used an Adkinsism effectively in their non-footie-related life?

I find myself saying "it's as simple as that" :) I think that's the one which people are most comfortable with, entry level. It's pragmatic, yet noticeable as 'philosophy' if you drop it a few times, people tend to nod back at you. I used find my self using the phrase 'lets get it out of the building' when a project was taking to long, and it was picked up by my colleagues. I now prefer it being used as Adkins uses "the building"

"Adkins gives me clarity, those around me confidence, and our clients peace of mind ....it's a simple as that."

("Look" on the other hand seems simple, but can come aross as bit brusque or irritated - more difficult and it looks to utilise)

In Pro-5 the other day we were playing a significantly superior team and I said the 'Hard work beats talent if talent doesn't work hard!' to get them geared up. I also used the "Pressure Makes Diamonds" one ;) we ended up winning 6-3 ;)

My newest flying student is a Pompey fan.

I have a long list of Adkinsisms to use on her.<laugh>

Pieking: are you sure she's a Pompey fan? Recently released statistics from the Environmental Agency point to the fact that no sightings of Pompey fans have been reported since several weeks ago and they will shortly be declared an officially extinct species. I took my place in my hide in Winston Churchill Avenue last night, hoping to see some activity typical of the genus " Eskateus Pestilentus" through my night glasses - perhaps a glimpse of the typical courtship dance between male and female, where the former falls over and vomits with its distinctive melodic retching noise and the female asks for money - but there was nothing.

terypaine these sort of comments will never do. It was posting like yours that got me in to deep hot water and the blame for all hostilities between the supporters of both clubs. I am now banned from the PFC board because I said among other things that their owners were dodgy. I feel like the whistle blower who got the sack.
