Really? With the Mirrors' track record, I think we can safely forget about Adkins. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/leeds-line-up-nigel-adkins-5685748? Leeds line up Nigel Adkins as manager before Neil Redfearn has been told he is out Elland Road supremo Massimo Cellino has begun talks with ex-Scunthorpe, Southampton and Reading boss who is proven at winning promotion please log in to view this image Making plans for Nigel: Adkins is available after being sacked by Reading in December Massimo Cellino has spoken to Nigel Adkins about taking over at Leeds - even though Neil Redfearn is still head coach. Cellino has left Redfearn, whose short-term deal expires on June 30, in limbo since the Championship season ended 11 days ago - and has yet to tell him his fate. The Leeds owner and chairman has begun the search for a new head coach and has spoken to Adkins’ camp. Adkins, 50, has been out of work since being sacked by Reading in December but has a proven track record at winning promotion after his successes with Scunthorpe and Southampton. please log in to view this image In and out: Redfearn's had three spells as Leeds manager in as many years Cellino has still to speak to Redfearn, who is wanted by Chesterfield, despite returning to the helm at Elland Road last week after completing his Football League ban. Instead, Cellino has been strengthening his administrative team - Adam Pearson has returned to Leeds from Yorkshire neighbours Sheffield Wednesday as the club’s new executive director. Pearson claims Cellino alone will decide Redfearn’s fate. He said: “The coach is definitely in Massimo’s remit, so I’ll leave that one with him.”
Good morning Neil hope you are well Atkins would be an excellent choice for me has great experience run clubs on very little budgets discovered Gar Hooper and so I hope he buys him and brought the best out of Beckford Its crystal clear that Redders is out and I don't think Chesterfield are interested in him .I would be very surprised.I think that's his agent trying to up the ante
Very little budgets? Scunthorpe were the highest wage payers in their league when he was manager - and whilst at Southampton, their League 1 promotion winning teams wages were double any other club in League 1 Give Redfern twice as much to spend as any other manager and he'd do the same
Maybe TC they were paid on results I don't think he spent a great deal on transfers.I know he spent big at Reading on Adrenthe but that was all I believe
You are not doing very well today are you? For a man who claims to be so intelligent I am suprised at your inaccuracy, lack of rresearch and genral level of posting bollocks.......... Why do you continue to post your opinion as fact when there are so many here despite their tender years have poohed more than will ever know? Just asking.
Moron what are you rambling about now clearly you need to seek help what have I posted that's inaccurate please point it outyou ignoramus
This: Atkins would be an excellent choice for me has great experience run clubs on very little budgets" For the reasons TC has already provided. Before you start even win bonuses have to be factored into the budget, so he wasn't working with a low budget compared to the other clubs in L1 od CC.
Sacked by Southampton because of transfer disagreements. Sacked by Reading because they were playing **** and lost 9 out of his last 12 games in charge - and not just money spent on Drenthe - he also signed Wayne Bridge, Danny Williams, and he also had your old mate Billy Sharp on loan. The squad he inheritted contained an abundance of class for Championship level - Federici, Gunter, Pearce, Kelly, Gorkks, Cummings, Karacan, Leigertwood, McAnuff, Robson-Kanu, Guthrie, Williams, Obita, Pogrebnyak, Le Fonfre - all would walk into the Leeds team - to have that squad near the bottom of the Championship was piss poor!!
Can't argue with that but why did he do such a great job at Southampton and Scunthorpe and fail at Reading?
As I said above, the team he had at Scunthorpe was the highest paid in wages in the League - went up and came straight back down again. He joined Southampton as there old Chairman took the reigns - and there wages were twice as much as ANY other teams in League 1 - granted he did well to get them promoted from the Championship, but he did spend quite a bit of money in the process (Jack Cork from Chelsea, De Ridder, Danny Fox from Burnley, Hoiveld from Celtic, and Billy Sharp from Doncaster - all cost over £1.5M and all on substancial wages for Championship level) He failed miserably at Reading though - where Brian McDermott excelled !

I think the Chairman should at least have the decency to inform the coach and the supporters that his services are no longer required.
Why? His contract runs out on 2 June so there is no need for any conversation. If he was looking at keeping him that might be different. Last year they closed down TA for the summer to save money, this year we don't have a coach from 2 June till first game of the season to save money, What can possibly go wrong?
Hearing that a Hull midfielder has quit drinking and turned to the Cellino powder instead - he said that he had to choose between cocaine and alcohol, saying: "I respect my brain but I value my liver more"
Glory, I'm hoping you're joking but if not, so that Redders can at least start looking elsewhere if he is after a manager's post. So Leeds can start planning early for the new season, so we can approach other coaches with them knowing there is an actual vacancy. Also it's the correct way to do things. Cellino needs to man up.
