"We totally dominated first half, game plan worked a treat." "Created great opportunities, we scored a goal." "That calls out for technology or maybe we need a linesman who can see the ball go over the line." "We lose Guly Do Prado with a glute injury." "I didn't see it at the time." (on the red card) "There's a coming together, Rickie is grappled, they got him in a brace, Rickie pushed him away and he has pushed their lad. The referee has sent him off, nothing we can do." "Because of a coming together it happened, I don't know." "The sending off changed the whole complexion, it changed the game." "We believe that we will still win this division. We will stick together, be positive, we are still doing good things." "There is great resolve, we're in a bad patch." "Great to get 90 minutes out of David Connolly again, we had every confidence in Ben Reeves today." "The January Window is now open, we can now purchase or loan players in order to win the division." "There will be urgency in the window, as before today. We've got 12 days and I expect things to happen by then." "Until pen has been put to paper, we cannot announce or reveal anything. There will be movement."
I listened as well to the interview - a very good summation. Certainly got the impression that deals are being done; seems he is hoping that it’s all a case of awaiting for the signatures – he confirmed is looking to get some players in before the Nott’s Forest game – certainly going to need a striker as I presume Rickie is on a 3-match ban?
I got the impression from Adkins' interview, although he didn't explicitly say so, that an appeal might not be out of the question, as he said something about needing to see footage from another angle. If more footage exonerates Lambert then the club would probably appeal.
Why should he put the supporters in more of a bad mood? He knows that we are dissapointed with the team and he trys to get the positives out of the game which is to be admired.
he talks about negatives in private, how it should be, don't want to demoralise players by publicly criticising them
Because being negative does not help the team - the press love negative comments [especially the Echo] and will plaster them over the back pages. He'll make his constructive criticism on the training ground - not to the public.
True. But sometimes you have to look at the negatives to be able to improve. That's like saying we lost 3-0, but thank god it wasn't 4! So that makes it ok then?
I seem to remember Redknapp making negative comments publicly about the team, during our last PL season, which didn't exactly improve things. I don't remember exactly what was said but he was not exactly complimentary about the team as a whole.
What a fantastic manager we've got! "We believe that we will still win this division. We will stick together, be positive, we are still doing good things." "There is great resolve, we're in a bad patch." "Great to get 90 minutes out of David Connolly again, we had every confidence in Ben Reeves today." "The January Window is now open, we can now purchase or loan players in order to win the division." That's it,let's be having you!Showing that we want to win it,we want to go up,we are going to buy players! We are Southampton FC!Together as one!
Well that has cheered me up a little, still poor result. Normally I'm saying one result doesn't make a difference but once again we have lost because there is no plan B! They need a kick up the backside and a couple of signings might make them realise that their places aren't guaranteed!
No plan b? It was working, it was a matter of time, it was a **** red card, no doubt down to dirty tactics from the dirtiest club around. First goal, GK spilled it, 2nd a great strike, 3rd a formality. I think Nige did okay today. I think we'll act quicker in the window due to today though, which can only be a good thing.
If we're stupid enough to, then I hope we're punished by it being extended to a fourth game. Would be stupid to appeal it.
