I think this is very poor from Adkins to not even mention Yoshida

I don't agree with criticizing players in public ... it's very unlike Adkins as well

He just said " the goal came from a mistake from a young goalkeeper" which it did.
It should never have been lobbed to yashida for dyer to intersept.
It should have been punted upfield.
This is a statement of fact which can be learned from and i am sure it will be

Similar situation in the WBA game, so did Nige tell him not to do it again, or did it just not come off. Seems unfair to blame the lad, unless he has defied instructions.

Why is this at all surprising? It was his fault and he must realise it. If the manager is asked about an incident, he can't deny the plain truth, even if some on here can...

I think probably it is because Boruc will be back in goal after today.

Cheers Qwerty, I had heard that but just wanted to make sure that was what was being referenced and not a different interview.

Don't see what any fuss is about, he simply stated the fact that Gazza made a mistake which lead to a goal, which he did, and he'll know he did, everyone knows he did, and he'll move on, it happens. I'm sure Nigel will have had a word with Yoshida too, but it makes no difference if he mentioned him or not in a very short reference to the incident.

I saw the interview on Final Score. Its was a statement of fact, which everyone could see. It wasn't criticism.

How many times do we see from a attacking period of play, the ball gets cleared or is worked back to our full backs on the flanks and then under pressure goes further back to our centre backs who again under pressure plays a awkward ball back to the keeper to deal with.
Possession of a football is not paramount in some circumstances, as soon as it finds it way back wide to our fullbacks under pressure they should play it down the tight line option towards the corner flag and try and keep the pressure on the opposition.
Pressure without possession in good areas is better than under pressure in bad areas with possession.
Most of our players are not good enough to play total football possession the Barcelona way.

The quote from Adkins on MOTD was longer and he went on to say that he was young and would learn...so it wasn't that harsh. Expect to see a few balls lumped forward by Gazza in future:biggrin:, but that's ok as he is a decent kicker of the ball. I would be very surprised if Gazza doesn't play in the next game...he shouldn't carry all the blame for the result...he didn't let in six and we failed to score more.

I see your point, but I'm not sure I agree. We never really looked under pressure at the back (for a change) until Gazza's blunder. Always better to keep the ball and be patient, even if we're not Barcelona. Pressing when you're not in possesion is fine, and something West Ham, for example, do very well and get unfairly criticised for. But it's tiring if you spend too long doing it. Best to let let the ball do the work even if that means passing backwards occasiobally, and make the opposition chase it, something we did quite well at times yesterday.

It was his fault but Yoshida proved that not all Japanese players have great technique and control, if he was composed on the ball the goal would not of happened but he should not of been put in that situation in the first place.
