I'm looking for some opinions on Adil Aouchiche and if you think he has a long term future at SAFC? Whilst he has obvious talent and a very good PSG pedigree, I feel like we're still waiting for things to click for the lad. If you look at his career it runs along an odd trajectory, starts out at PSG where he is apparently highly rated, making 3 appearances in his first season as a pro. He is then allowed to move on to St Etienne, which was considered somewhat of a coup for them at the time, fast forward another two seasons and he has been relegated and starting a new season in Ligue 2. Then moves to Lorient under RLB, who plays him 11 times in the league season before his move to Sunderland. As a youth he played in the u17 world cup and was one of the stand-out players and again, we all know he is very talented, the questions remains if he can actually live up to all that potential and become a top player. Give me the good and the bad, I want all your opinions.
Rate the lads ability. Not sure he does enough to warrant a run of games, and he needs that to find some consistency. Stuck in a vicious circle but could come great, never mind good.
I don’t think he’ll be here for very long Was told earlier in the summer that there’s interest in him from abroad.
I think theres a player there but also wouldnt be unhappy if he left - suspect a few might feel similar We would def need a replacement, i know we were linked with another French lad that had a cracking yr in ligue 2 last season (Bardeli i think)
I'd be curious what you make of him (Aouchiche) from a scouting pov. He doesn't have a good goal-to-game ratio for a number 10, seems to lack that first few yards of acceleration for me, also his efforts at goal leave a lot to be desired, usually at a good height for the keeper or near the centre of the goal.
Suppose the time to judge is when he's had a run of 15/20 games in the team which isn't going to happen as Jobe is 1st choice
He shows glimpses most games of having talent but i dont see him consistently impacting games His decision making is poor but i also like that he tries to make things happen (i.e. hes always looking to play forward) Defensively he works hard but again i dont see him winning enough duels or blocking passing lanes Im totally torn on him as i see a player there but just not sure he will make it at us
Think there is a real player to be brought out, playing consistently with better players and more importantly a better CF he can work off.
He’s one who has tonnes of potential but we only ever seem to see it in glimpses. I do think he could come good here, but not sure he will get the chance to with Jobe in front of him on merit currently.
He just hasn't shown enough for me to think he has a long term future with us. Can't fault the lads effort when he does play, but we need to see more consistency and better decision making from him, if he is to succeed at Sunderland.
Similar to Ba got something but needs coaching. Having said that Ba showed a lot more under Mowbray, strange.
I'd rather he was properly coached than released, the skill is clearly there. He'd be the perfect understudy to Browne imo and he's still young enough to accept he'll have to be patient. He can strike a ball, put in good corners, press high and find some really good passes. He gets frustrated when players aren't moving into space to receive the ball and loses concentration ... ... things RLB should be able to get across to him. He needs players like Clarke and Roberts to bring out the best in him.
I like him. His data is outstanding, has the ability to do a lot of what you want in an attacking midfielder. Gets in good positions, creates, has plenty of shots, pressing is good. However, if he doesn't learn to be calm on the ball he won't get anywhere. The amount of 25 yard shots or attempted hollywood passes he attempts that could've just been a simple 10 yard pass to keep the attack going is astounding. It's almost like he gets tunnel vision and feels the need to do the spectacular every time. Defensively when tracking players he is not very good. I struggle to see him effectively playing in the 8 position that Jobe and Browne currently occupy until he learns how to track runners. I'd persist with him but he really needs to improve. A nice bench option.
I am afraid I dont think he is good enough. He is a neat and tidy technician but I am not sure his thought processes are a match to his technical ability. I dont think he sees the whole picture on the pitch and this limits his decision making hence he makes to many poor ones. I also dont know where you could play him in our team to give him a chance to shine. I suspect he needs to play as a 10, because defensively he is a way off an 8. If we were to play with a 10 I am afraid I would want someone with much more composure in that role. Sadly for me I dont think he is a good match for us nor us for him. Certainly I think one of he and Ba need to move on to allow a better squad balance, maybe both.
It was Adil that could not keep uo with their lad who scored the first goal, so fair comment on that. That said I do like him as a player, just feel he may be more suited to Continental football.
Was very excited about him after his first few showings thought there was a quality player in him but as has been said I've not seen him influence the game as much as he probably should. Seems to back up a promising display with an anonymous one. He's similar to Ba for me I think there's a player in both of them but think they've both been here long enough now to have established themselves into our top say 15 players and neither really have. Put it this way neither could really argue with being left out of the matchday squad on Saturday. I think both Rigg and now probably Mundle have elevated above them both in the pecking order so for me it's thanks for your efforts (I don't think I can doubt either on that side) but I won't shed a tear if you leave.
Good player that doesn't fit our tactics or the position he's played in. I'd like to see him play as an attacking midfielder behind the forward (if we had one)
Exactly this. Hardly any of the players we've signed in the last 3 years have been anywhere near the finished article. Too many of our fans are expecting to see something which isn't there yet. What he,and others, need is proper coaching to improve them to becoming the players their potential indicates. Since Mogga left, they haven't had any consistency in what they're being asked to do,or in the environment they're being asked to it. Consistent, intelligent coaching, working on developing the skills they have, will, imo, allow us to see the good players that are in there. The Championship is a real opportunity for them to significantly improve.....can't do it in the PL. They have to be ready.
