From the Telegraph............. Manchester United poised to tempt cash-strapped Queens Park Rangers with £12m offer for midfielder Adel Taarabt Manchester United are considering a shock £12 million bid for Queens Park Rangers midfielder Adel Taarabt in the January transfer window. The chase is on: Manchester United are considering a £12m bid for QPR midfielder Adel Taarabt Photo: ACTION IMAGES By Jason Burt 11:00PM GMT 26 Nov 2012 Any offer could tempt new QPR manager Harry Redknapp into a sale as it would raise the crucial funds he requires to bolster his squad when the window reopens. At present there is only a relatively small amount of money available to Redknapp, who could also rely heavily on the loan market as he targets a striker and a central defender, in particular, in his attempt to haul QPR off the bottom of the Premier League. Redknapp was guarded yesterday about his plans for the forthcoming window, again pointing out that investment had already been made in the squad with 12 players arriving â at a cost of £14 million in transfer fees and a sharp increase in QPRâs wage bill â during the summer. QPR do not have the £9 million they bid for Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson, who will be a target again, in August as they had to spend £3.8 million on midfielder Esteban Granero to add to the squad. That was because of uncertainty over whether Samba Diakite would return to the club from France, as he has subsequently done, after he suffered from depression. Spurs would appear less likely to allow Dawson to leave in January than they were in August, with Younes Kaboul still out injured, and would certainly resist any approach for Scott Parker, who is also yet to play this season. Jermain Defoe is not for sale either.
Redknapp needs to offload players to bring in flesh blood. Redknapp has off-loaded Adel before...Lazy journalism. This ain't going to happen.
I reckon we could get a more informative podcast from members off our board. Who would your three or four be? One to host, the others to ad-lib the insinuations?
Host would have to be Secret... Others : Swords Matt Yorkie..... could be funny...as long s its done on a Thursday !
This is the interesting bit for me and goes a little way to show why we have ended up midfielder heavy, remembering that Ale was still a way back from injury.
Looks like there might be something to it.....Cant se it personally...try this.. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...Taarabt-is-a-shock-target-for-Man-United.html
Even MH wasn't stupid enough to sell AT, he's clearly the only player in the team that has any creativity/flair in his game. Selling him would almost certainly mean relegation.
Much as I think the Telegraph usually has it's feet on the ground over these things, I can't see ot happening. Arry has already referred to Adel as a match winner, and Diakite strongly denied he was suffering from depression. This article, for me is just a rehash of old news.
I love the way, when we read something we like from the media, or something which backs up a personal or group prejudice, it's taken as read. When we don't like the message it's desperately rubbished as 'lazy journalism'. We'll have to wait and see, won't we?
