QUOTE By Callum Mulvihill, Reporter Filed: Monday, December 24, 2012 at 11:12 UK Adel Taarabt has claimed that his agent is in talks with AC Milan over a possible move to the Italian club. The Queens Park Rangers midfielder has impressed despite the club's struggles this season and insists that a transfer to Milan is a possibility for him. Taarabt told Gazzetta dello Sport: "I would only refuse offers from the big English clubs if Milan made me an offer. "My agent is in talks with Galliani, but it depends on what happens with Robinho and [reported AC Milan target Javier] Pastore. "Milan aren't going through a glorious period now, and they're no longer a part of the top clubs. However, if I joined Milan then it would open up the doors for me to great clubs like Real Madrid and Barca." The 23-year-old recently suggested that Barcelona were interested in his services. UNQUOTE No great surprise. If we go down, he'll be off and can't blame him. A case of, enjoy him while we can.
Frankly, as much as I love him when he turns it on in matches, there at at least 3-4 games between each of these when you forget he's on the pitch.
The question is, would he fade or thrive amongst better players. He'd add panache to any top team, but I agree, he might not add it regularly.
The regularity with which stuff like this makes it into the press is pretty tedious. I guess there's a fair chance that the lack of Taarabt's creativity during the African Cup of Nations will contribute heavily to our relegation anyway. Probably makes sense to sell for any good-sized fee.
A good player on his day. But it's sometimes hard to think of him an honourable and professional person.
That's right Goldie. He's a great talent, but I do wish he'd keep his mouth shut sometimes. All his talk of Barca etc doesn't do either QPR or him any favours at all.
I can think of a few less honourable and less professional in our squad! He has a special talent and he's come on a long way since NW went out to Morocco to talk him into signing. Whether he stays is in the balance, just as our presence in the Premiership is.
As a former season ticket holder and close follower of AC Milan, I can guarantee that if Adel actually described using Milan as a stepping stone to 'great' clubs like Barca and Real Madrid, he will have alienated the vast majority of ultra and ordinary rossonere tifosi already. Shame, because the San Siro is the right kind of stage for this boy, and it would give me an excuse to get out there more often. Either this and previous gossip are all bollocks or his agent's working overtime. However, if he did say this and if he scores on Boxing Day and runs over to the loft grabbing the badge again (the most meaningless and overused empty gesture in sport) I will be less than impressed.
Right, and in this quote he manages to mug off AC Milan as well: "Milan aren't going through a glorious period now, and they're no longer a part of the top clubs. However, if I joined Milan then it would open up the doors for me to great clubs like Real Madrid and Barca." If that's an accurate quote, then he seems to be more deluded, crass, insensitive and unwise than I'd imagined.
He's never shy of touting himself as the next great thing, but it'll take more than one match-winning performance for anything to happen and I just can't see Milan taking him. One minute he loves us and the next he's prostituting himself for a quick one...
Oh, sure. He's not the least honourable/professional person in this squad. But all this stuff that makes the press suggests one of two things. Either he's a gobshite trouble-maker or his agent is. If the latter is true and if Taarabt is a decent chap then he'll bin the agent and get classier representation.
Seriously isnt it time Adel showed us a bit of respect? He's scored some quality goals this season but great players regularly put in match winning performances and I don't see that from him. If you want to go Adel just say so and jog on, you cant tell us you love us one week then ant to leave us the next!
That "we need you to stay" song has gone to the poor, deluded fool's little head by the look of things.
Can never be sure if these stories are true or whether Adel is getting a lot of bad advice from hangers on. However, it's obvious that he sees himself playing for a much bigger club. I just wish, if this is true, that he'd shut up about it!!
Don't blame him regardless of all this journo talk. Many of the posters on here will be pleased of course .. I won't be as I support QPR but Adel will make the big time and I wish him every success in the future ... the boy in fact is my favourite footballer that has worn the hoops .. simply sensational at times and a total one off
I'm pretty sure that this has everything to do with it. How ironic that we're now being linked with Anelka.
I don't think he's on Harold's "overpaid and under talented" list. He's on a new contract - if we sell I think it will be because we are made an offer we can't refuse, rather than actively trying to offload him. But I have no idea how much would be too tempting for us. The one piece of skill he showed on Saturday - beating a couple of defenders and threading the ball through to Cisse for just about our only second half attempt on goal - was the highlight of the game from an Rs perspective.
