I'm with Kiwi. Nobody is coming in with a £15million bid to lure him away, so let's give him a chance and see what he can do. It's not like he cost us anything, and he certainly earned his salary getting us that promotion.
Nothing we didn't know already and couldn't have been said in 100 words or less. I don't suppose David Mac's ego will let him write 200 words when 2000 will do (unless he is tweeting, of course). maybe he is hoping one of the big papers will pick him up. I am still waiting for something special to happen as mentioned in his tweet a few days ago. Something tells me he just hoped that something would happen, maybe a signing or a resignation and maybe a takeover ... and then he could claim to be right. There are too many of these people claim to be "in the know" but in fact know only a very little more than you or I. Is DM actually a journalist? I can't find many articles written by him that weren't bloggs, contributions to lame on-line sports sites, etc. Very little in newspapers and magazines My mate Gerry says that he (Gerry) is an actor. He has worked as an extra on many London based programmes and once had a couple of lines on "The Bill". I suppose if my mate Gerry can be an actor, DM can be a journalist.
I like Dave, but I think this blog is a bit harsh on tarbs. We all know he can be a tempremental twat at times, but surely there can be no doubting the kids talent.
Yes I am a grumpy old git, Northolt. I am totally fed up to the back teeth with all these people who are "in the know" and speak bollocks ... and those people who hang on their every word as if it is gospel. I find that more depressing than the fact that nothing exciting has happened in the last few weeks.
I agree with EH. No other news so make something out of nothing. I'm not in the know but i thought that we might have some news of something happening behind the scenes before the 1st of july. Simply from the fact we have done no business in or out and thats when preseason training starts . Also contracts normally run to this date. At the end of the day , like him or not we would have not got a top two spot without tarbs this season , fact. I would imagine we might have scrapped a top 6. He acts like a child at times but also was the diffenece on other occassions. Simply against Cardiff this year he earnt us a point away and 3 at home with 3 bits of brilliance. If it is time for him to go so be it , but do not mock the guy. As i've said before best £1m we have ever spent and us being in the PL pretty much lays at his feet.
I'm with bakes. I've got a lot of time for David M but feel that he can tends towards being too negative. Also, he often contradicts himself in his articles, like here when he says that he doesn't think that Tarbs has improved, but then goes onto say that there are signs that he's getting better.
The article is unrelentingly negative and verging on character assassination. My personal opinion of Taarabt has see-sawed from 'waste-of-space' to 'you will tell your kids you saw him' to 'frustrating and immature' to 'best natural talent on the planet'. Somewhere among those emotive outbursts is the reality: a highly-flawed genius. David M has obviously used his journalists' credentials to write a deliberately controversial article, describing only one side of the story and predicting the future from only that side. It could turn out that way and the boy could drift into obscurity; more likely in my view is that Taarabt will end up playing at the highest level but drifting from club to club trying to find his niche. The point is that nothing and no one is served by this depressing piece. As for 'please don't mention Taarabt in the same breath as Roy Wegerle' line: don't make me laugh. Wegerle was often lazy, mostly inconsistent and ocassionally magical. Remind you of anyone David? Now Rodney... there's another story entirely.
My mate at Spurs said they used to bring Tarbs on in the last fifteen minutes to win penalties. If he goes to a big club, I can't see him keeping a regular slot because, for all his assets (I agree, understated by David Mac above), his weaknesses, particularly defensively, would make him a liability at the highest level (that part stated fairly by DM)
Eamon, grumpy old git - i suspect at least one of these is not true... AS for the Avator how about please log in to view this image Congrats on knowing the famous Actor Gerry, I suspect your comments on DM are true - has anyone told him there is a job going at QPR for a new media journo it sounds right up his street although it does say you might have to assist with interviewing the players so he might not have the required experience. Incidentally i am now a published writer and grahic designer - see above.
personally, whilst i want Taarabt to tay, IF he thinks he is half the player he is, then he needs this season with QPR to prove it. Imentioned n a pevious post about Dave Seaman - and the season he moved to Arsenal he earnt that move. Didn't like the way he went about it, however, he earnt that transfer with good displays all that season. Bowles, Wegerle, Currie all quality players. Taarabt is quality but there are other that can fit into a team without being pandered to. If Taarabt wants to earn his move away, then a season in the spotlight at QPR is what he needs - and then, and only then will we find out just how good he really is
