Managers to decide fate of Chamakh and Taarabt over shisha incident Arsenal and Queens Park Rangers are leaving it to Arsène Wenger and Mark Hughes to decide whether to reprimand Marouane Chamakh or Adel Taarabt for being pictured with shisha pipes after Saturday's game between the sides. The Gunners striker Chamakh and the Rangers midfielder Taarabt were photographed holding the pipes in a bar following the match at Loftus Road. The Morocco team-mates both featured in QPR's 2-1 win over Arsenal. Taarabt opened the scoring with his first ever Premier League goal, while Chamakh came off the bench late on. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/apr/03/managers-chamakh-taarabt-shisha-pipe?newsfeed=true Straight down the Edgware Road after the match for a quick puff!!! Naughty naughty.
Shisha is a social Arabic tobacco smoking activity and should not be confused with hashish. Basically, he was having a victory cigar with his mate. Don't think smoking is advisable for footballers but my stance is BFD.
Maybe would have been better with something to refine his creative instincts for United's defense Sunday!
Seen enough kitted-out Muslim school kids on those pipes in east London cafes. Nothing like a bit of iconic encouragement eh boys?
How is this any different to you lot puking after a night of pub crawling, is beyond me. That's the "culture" in England, isn't it, according to our leaders???
It's no different to a couple of players having a pint or two the night after a match. Surprised something this irrelevant has made it into The Guardian.
Saw him post the photo on twitter of him smoking with Chamakh and thought that it could be blown out of proportion and it looks like it has. I remember Stephen Ireland getting in trouble for it over Christmas. How this is considered terrible but players falling out of nightclubs every week is part and parcel i'll never know.
Non-story, it's legal, so surely he can't be reprimanded? there's about 50 shisha cafe's on Uxbridge Rd so he's not in shortage I prefer other 'herbs' though
No big deal here at all. Its not as bad as smoking cigarettes and arguably on the same level as having a drink which im sure Adel doesnt do because of his religion.
If you're gonna play the pipes, give me the shisha pipes every time; more melodious and not half as noisy as the bagpipes.
