June 2010 found Neil Warnock waiting patiently for his flight in the departures lounge at Heathrow airport. A frenzy of transfer activity had seen him address the majority of problems that he had identified since taking over as manager of Q.P.R. earlier that year; his âbread and butterâ players were in place. However he knew that to launch a serious assault on promotion to the Premier League he needed something far more exotic. Warnockâs target was to be found in stifling heat of Morocco. He was prepared to undertake a 3,000 mile round trip to prove to Adel Taarabt that he was serious, that he was prepared to build the team around the Moroccan international and that, above all else, he was really wanted. Adel Taarabt was far from an unknown quantity at Q.P.R. Since he had first thrilled the Loftus Road faithful during his initial loan spell he had palpably demonstrated both of the major traits of his personality......... Nice read Roller, as you say, 'a cracked pot' indeed. You sometimes wonder what goes on inside his head but, IMHO, his background and the typical Arab temperament allied to his immaturity and bad advice meant it would always end this way. Jol may get something out of him but whether he can be consistent and with Berbatov of a similar mercurial pedigree Fulham could be the most unpredictable team in the PL this season...
You are well aware of my views on Mr Taarabt Roller, I really don't believe he is the player we need this season to get us up again. He has produced some special performances for us since he arrived from Spurs, but other than the Fulham game [ironically] last season he hasn't produced much recently. I wish him well, and hope he proves me wrong.
Nice homage to a truly unique talent. I will watch out for Fulham this season and really hope he does well for them. I can dream that he will be back playing for us in the premiership next season.
Exquisite stuff Roller, though its made me feel much worse about this. And a 3,000 mile round trip with only 1 hour time zone change is child's play mate. Harder to drive to Scunthorpe to watch a 17 year old prospect.
Enjoyed the read Roller, thanks very much. There's not one word I would disagree with. A sad, sad, day for this club. I just hope we don't regret the decision come next May.
I wish Adel the very best. He has given me some of the most entertaining hoops moments in all the years I've supported the team. Really hope he turns it on for Fulham. Just 15 minutes in a game with an Adel on form is worth the ticket price. I too will watch out for Fulham this year and hope (probably unrealistically) that we will get to see Adel back in hoops next year.
A great read Roller, and whilst I dont neccesarilly agree with you on this subject, i enjoyed reading the article. For me he's been living on something he achieved 2 seasons ago. I will definately be keeping an eye on Fulhams results from now on though! I like you, dont believe we'll ever see him in hoops again, and maybe thats a good thing for both parties ?!
Ta raa ... See you later! Behave on loan ,give a **** and make us as much as possible pleeeease. Yes he scored goals in champs winning season but everything went through him and he still wasn't top scorer in the league at the top club feeding him. He is a great talent but to build a team around him is madness... Done good , fondly remembered but cya bye
Great stuff In dimple terms Beautiful player who is blessed with skill that his ego is fighting to manage ... But this is 2013 and cultural differences will never be understood. As good as Zidane at the same age but equally as good as John Richie off it
I will catch a few matches without doubt its brilliant that he has gone to Fulham . I fully expect him to play like he did that night when we best Chelsea Anyone doubt he was the best player on the field that night? If you do you don't know football ... He will light up Fulham and they will love him We have to focus on getting up and hope Harold sees sense as this team is just about winning promotion Adel loves QPR and I believe he will return
Exactly this. He won't play many games for Fulham. He makes a play slow and predictable. No team player at all. Nevertheless all the best to him!!
Top work Roller.....he has been a joy and a pain in equal measure but he was ours.....I think the only way we we see him in hoops again is if Harold has gone and the new younger, far sighted manager can entice him back to the project...... If he gets his head sorted he could be the star he believes himself to be......
Only thing i don't agree on Roller is the Pen miss against Norwich ... It was very good save IMO ... The keeper guesses right and was down in a flash mate. It was however teh turning point of last season IMO and so he was blamed
I wasn't blaming him for anything Dave, but I think he knew how important it was and it drained his confidence.
