"A lot of people criticise me and I don't know why, but Martin Jol knows me, not just as a footballer but as a person too. He knows I just want to win games and play well."

When I saw the title and the comments about Fulham being more of a family to him, I couldn't help chuckle and as if to say, ......... ' leopard never changes his spots.

If he's happy, good luck to him, but don't give the crap about one game and you have proved yourself to be a complete player and pulling your weight. The only weight he's been pulling ...........

..........ok, I'll stop it there but I don't appreciate how he can slag off at our club after so many fans have supported him with he stuffed up, etc.
I was certainly not one of them but many on here were and it is disrespectful to them.

And the mercurial Moroccan believes that after riding a footballing rollercoaster at Rangers, he's now found his spiritual home under Martin Jol.

His performance in Fulham's gritty win at Sunderland will certainly give those who label him a 'Fancy Dan', incapable of doing the hard yards, food for thought.

This was not the 24-year-old's kind of match - the visitors had too little possession for him to dazzle, so he spent more time chasing down in his own half than creating.

But the midfielder, on a season-long loan, proved he can be artisan as much as artist, playing a key role in the Cottagers' backs-to-the-wall win.

"Those who say I'm lazy can't accuse me after that," he said. "I certainly put in a lot of work.

"We weren't able to play the football we wanted and didn't pass the ball well as Sunderland really pressed us, but it's a fantastic result and a great start."

Taarabt reckons his critics have got him all wrong and believes Craven Cottage is the perfect environment to prove his point.

"There are so many players who have been here a long time that this is more of a family club," he added.

"Everyone is friends with each other. You can sense it as soon as you walk in. QPR signed 12 players last year and there were many strangers. It was difficult.

"At Fulham, there is more of a team spirit."
