With the new quality acquisitions we have added to our team,it got me thinking..will Adel will be more consistant or be a periphery player? Quality players can lift other players to a better standard and i cant imagine Joey suffering any shennanigans from Adel when its not going his way. I know that Adels stilll young and learning but Im hoping to see more mature performances from our talisman with a bit more consistancy.
He certainly looks to have made a more 'mature' start this season and seems to be making more of an effort. no doubt Warnock will have spelt out to him that this is his make or break season in the big-time, that itself must be an incentive, if he fails to contribute and is effectively marked out of matches, as he was against Bolton, he will be lucky to find any team putting an offer in for him in January. I think most of us put the Bolton performance down as lack of fitness after the break. It's entirely in his own hands now...
to be fair Ramadan must have made a difference to his fitness levels and his performance against Wigan was much better.he was very unlucky not to score and worked hard to contribute to the team effort
. Have to agree that Adels performance at Wigan was one of his most mature but I think the green shoots started showing against Rochdale. Not a great game for sure but Adel was looking to release the ball early and bring others into the game more.
With the new signings it can only get better for him. Other teams wont be able to pay as much attention as they do now as players like barton/swp/puncheon will be a threat too. This will hopefully give him a bit more time on the ball etc.
I genuinely worry for him. We've built a team around him in the knowledge that he's far and away our most gifted player - not so much the case now. Although still the most skillful, we aren't in a position where we have to pander to him. Basically, he's now got to grow up even faster than the progression Neil's instilled thus far. Football for me, when it is at its best, is about those players that can do something above normal. Adel's one of those players and I desperately hope we can keep him and he sticks with us as long as possible.
I believe that he will step up to the plate and we will see the quality player he is..but i think it will take him time to adjust to not being the big fish in the little pond.
With Taarabt to date it's been flounder AND flourish... If he cuts it though, he goes in January. If he doesn't, he stays until he cuts it later... To cut it he needs to get off his high horse, humble up, get into training, sort his head out and appreciate what it is to be an Rs icon. His attitude towards the club (before Briatore rebuffed PSG... ) quite frankly stank. Not a hint of loyalty or gratitude. Newcastle was the stepping stone to the top club he should be at. The fact is Rangers are now that stepping stone. Use it or lose it as they say in rugby. He was vital last year because he was our only 'dependable' match winner. This year he's not.
Perhaps he's finding out pretty quickly that the PL is a different game altogether from the Championship last season. Championship Player of the Year and big fish in a small pond (in terms of quality and ability) last year. Maybe now a small fish in a bigger quality pond this time around... will be interesting to find out. If he has aspirations to be the key man at a Barca or something, he's going to have to show that he's a stand-out player in the league and for this team first.
Last season whenever Adel was interviewed or was quoted after one of his strops, you could tell that he felt pressure from being the star players, and you could also see his frustration at everyone around him not being of his quality. This season he shouldn't feel so isolated and the pressure wont just be on him. He will learn from the new players and hopefully flourish. I'm just not sure that his head is in the right place yet and I think when someone like Barton starts on him he'll start sulking again. The big difference this season will be the way Warnock treats him. Last year Warnock pretty much gave him the keys to the kingdom, rightly or wrongly, but Adel performed and got us the promotion we so craved. But this Season, Warnock has now brought in bigger names than Adel and I don't think he will put up with his prima donna tendencies. Wigan was for me, without a doubt Adel's most polished performance. It didn't go his way, but he showed a maturity that was lacking last season. He was constantly looking to play others in and never tried to dazzle when it was easier to pass. So the signs are good. However unless he learns that in this division, everyone has to work hard and track back then he'll be more a liability and not worth having in the team. He doesn't have to tackle and risk injury, but he has to at least get behind the ball and become an obstacle. Hopefully he's a year wiser and will come of age, because if he does, he will truly be a star is the Premiership.
The likes of SWP are not going to be best pleased if Tarbs doesn't pass when he or someone else is in a better position. That said, with better quality around him, he should go from strength to strength.
He'll come good, and I disagree with Brix in that, that doesn't necessarily mean he get's sold in Jan. We've good owners now and are a club going places, onwards and upwards! WE R QPR please log in to view this image
If QPR go after Becks will we start selling Alice Bands? Seriously, Adel has an opportunity to prove he can cut the mustard and if he plays well, could earn a transfer to a bigger side......then again, as QPR buy better quality players, he may decide to say. he has the quality, he is still young and he is wearing the shirt of a team going places
The news from LR over the last couple of weeks has been excellent. ALL the new signings have mentioned that 'the club is going places'. So, with this in mind, I hope that Adel gets his head down, trains hard, and proves what we all know; that he is a world class footballer. Bring on NUFC.
