Linked up very nicely today and despite the misses today I can see SWP bagging some goals in the run-in.

Trouble is Adel sees the pass light years before SWP susses it out, an intelligent striker like RVP would fill his boots with that sort of supply, hope Fergie doesn't think the same...

He looks so clumsy when shoots I never expect him to score and today screwed up those chances by hitting the pitch.

Taarabt needs somebody to feed off his passes, as we saw when we had Routledge in the past. With his pace, Cisse should be that player, but his poor work-rate excludes him from the starting XI right now. SWP is becoming the next best option, but needs to learn how to finish again.

[Perhaps an understanding could develop between our No. 10 and somebody like Campbell, who has a bit of pace about him and is undoubtedly a better finisher than SWP]

I know it is away a bit but AJ would love that service.

I was going to start a thread like this too Frome (although I would've called it "Taarabt & Phillips").

These too have skill in their feet and both showed a lot of examples of it out the field today. What I don't understand is why they're so sh*t when they get into the box!!

Phillips played some great stuff in the first half to get into the box - beating two players - but then bottled it when one on one with the keeper. He did similar in the second half. Taarabt beat a player all ends up down the right hand side in the second half but when it was perfect for a lay off (to Mackie?), he wouldn't release it and squandered the chance. On 24 minutes, Tarbs had the ball on the end line and tried to show boat and dragged the ball over the line for a GK. The QPR fan beside me was a laughing saying "I love that bloke" but I was fu*king raging. Most fans don't mind that stuff but it drives me absolutely insane!

On the other hand, Taarabt showed some fantastic touches. He really does have great control of the football. He slipped some exquisite passes through to people today and did some great hold up play. He also drew a few fouls from Spurs and won us time. Phillips too made some great little flicks and showed good movement.

Overall I think both of them played very well today. But if they could just use their heads (especially Taarabt) in the final movement, they could be brilliant players.

Linked well, but SWP isn't the answer to us getting goals and never will be imo. Taarabt was incredibly isolated today as we played like the away team and set up accordingly.

He played very well though COL. In fact both of them did. Its just their decision making at the very end of the move that lets them down.

Just like you Swords I was disappointed in Adel when he came in the box from the right and didn't want to give the ball to Mackie

When I used to play football, DIYers used to drive me around the bend! Its even worse now when I'm watching them!

After we weathered their early storm in the first half, we started playing some nice one touch and move between half way and their box. It seemed like we were trying to move it around until a run into their box was on, most likely by swp, mackie or m'bia, with taarabt the most likely final supplier. If that can work, with a more deadly outcome, it would be great. Exciting to watch, unpredictable and leaves the derry's, park's, faulin's etc to hold their shape.

Hoilett to become the finisher we need?

Indeed, SWP's first touch lets him down time after time even when he occasionally clicks as to where the pass is going to go. Adel's hold up play and retaining of possession is excellent, with RVP in front it would be a goal fest

Agree, but will £5 mill plus hulse, bothroyd, Johnson and Zamora be enough? Should we offer Ferdinand and Ephraim as well?

100% agree, Adel is infuriating at times. To be honest we do seem to be lacking players with real football brains and nouse. The effort is clearly there but the decision making is really lacking at times. All in all I am happy with the performance today though.
