Adel. A simple pass. Please! For my sanity.....

As I said before, I'm an Adel fan.

However, I'm pulling the last few follicles out of my already follicularly challenged head, to try and understand WHY he can't make a simple pass!

    A simple pass. That's all I ask.

A simple pass, after, against all the odds, he picks the ball down out of the air, with two opposing team members around him.

A simple pass, after he weaves his way around another opponent after beating the above two.

A simple pass to one of our lads out on the wing after doing all of the above.

But NO, he can't give that simple pass because he invariably gives a sh1te, limp, weak, uninterested pass to an opponent who's in the wide open.

    A simple pass. That's all.

    Jaysus. :emoticon-0101-sadsm

    (Where's that pint I need..................)

    Is this a Smith's song?

Totally agree though; it's so frustrating when he takes that extra second or two to linger on the ball, the prime example was the ball which should have been played to Mackie in the 1st half.

I also can't understand why Adel, or anyone else for that matter, never seems to support the striker by getting into the box.

A team playing 5 midfielders must have someone intent on getting into the box.

Still some glimmers of hope though: 2 nil to Rangers next week

I seen someone put him in the QPR legend category the other day and to me that is ridiculous. His work-rate has improved to be fair to him but his finishing, passing and most of all: set piece delivery are very poor. He doesn't seem to be able to think clearly and I don't know if that's something you can teach a player.

Having said all that, I do think he's much improved on what he was last season. He's an average to good player, no more no less.

Whilst we're having a dig, when was the last time he headed a ball? With his height and bulk he should be in the box more, challenging for crosses.

    Hiya Brixt.

    There's no real dig here.

I suppose I've just realised that Adel is not growing into the complete package I thought he could be come.

He has the technical ability and he has, in fairness, dropped the stroppiness and matured somewhat. He also seems to be putting more into games and fighting for the cause.

But holy mother of sweet divine Jaysus, why can't he finish all his good (sometimes brilliant) work by giving that pass?

As someone above mentioned, perhaps he can be taught this?

Taarabt had a decent-ish game, but his improvements in defence seem to be at the expense of him running the ball into the box.

He used to frighten the **** out of defenders, often winning penalties too.

surely a professional footballer with ambitions to play for a big team a few years ago and been well paid shouldnt have to be taught how to pass a ball..

But he did!!!! He picked out Hoilett perfectly with a pinpoint diagonal ball, over the heads of defenders, right to Hoilett inside the area, wide open, and the linesman called it offside <doh> when he was clearly a yard on!!!!!!

Agreed Yap. I'd like to see many more though. Many more. They don't have to be elaborate. Nice simple ones. That's all......

He used to run at them more as well. He's lost a bit of confidence. It's a lot to do with his personality. The more he matures, the more controlled he must become and the less he enthusiasm he has?

I don't think you could say that with regards Premier League defenders. He did it to NPC defenders alright but not yet at the top level.

Its unfortunate because up at OT last Sat he looked like the most skilful player on the pitch but as Corker says, his end product is always lacking. I find there's nothing more frustrating as a football fan than seeing a player with fantastic feet make poor decisions in the final third time and again. As an Ireland fan, Aiden McGeady has driven me equally demented down the years with his great dribbling ending up in nothing each and every time.

    That's it SHoopster, that's it!

Why didn't I put two and two together?

    They have the same affliction.

    Aido and Adel.......separated at birth.

Adel wasn't our problem today - he had nice touches, sprayed out great passes, tackled back in defence, would love to see him running at goal more and taking a few shots.

I thought SWP actually had quite a good game and was unlucky not to score - was disappointed with Hoilett though, in hindsight perhaps Cissé would have been the better attacking option? Perhaps we ended up with too many attacking midfielders. Harry should bring DJ back in Jan and give him another shot. Perhaps he would have put away a few of those SWP opportunities.

A few random thoughts prompted by my annoyance at the fact that once again, I cannot understand why Taarabt is coming in for criticism. At least he tries. At least he makes an effort to create something.....And for those of you who always find it within you somehow to pick on him for all the wrong reasons, he defended, covered, tackled and put himself about. In sharp contrast to the one guy you lot seem to cream over at the expense of Ale Faurlln. At least Harry saw that he was not up for it at all and promptly took him off at half time. He could not possibly have been injured as he was nowhere near the ball for most of the first half.

His dead ball delivery was supposed to be the mark of his sheer class. So why the **** did he not bother to make himself available to take any?

SWP played the best I have ever seen him play in a hooped shirt as did Bosingwa. Park did ok and hopefully there is a lot more to come

I posed the question yesterday whether all 5 of our illustrious midfield could play in the same team. Well it looks like the fates have conspired against us again with the injuries to Mbia and Diakite so it may be a while before we get that chance again. It was particularly important today that Granero should step up and take responsibility. I get the feeling that Harry is not one of Ale Faurlin's fans. Well it looks as though his hand may now be forced as we cannot afford to play with passengers from now on. Love Derry for what he contributes but he does not have Faurlin's vision.

What a difference having one forward who was prepared to put himself about. Once again Mackie has seized his chance. Fabulous goal. Again, the defence looked pretty solid but I'll be interested to see the dissection on slo mo tonight of the Villa goal. I feel that Cesar might well have got more on that shot.

Overall, we played very well in patches and we have now gone 2 games in a row without losing!!!. The players look up for the battle and willing to put a shift in. However we are having no luck at all at the moment.

I think he has been neutered. He is not being adventurous enough. I share the same fear as Corker. He is not developing into the player that I thought he would. Don't get me wrong, he is still a good player at this level and one of our best but not having the influence I thought he was capable of.

Thanks for saving me typing Ciarrai. You have my point exactly.

Yorkie, don't get me wrong. I still think Adel is a good PL player, and has the potential to be an excellent player if he didn't let himself down with some of the simple stuff. For example, boot the bleedin' ball with a toe poke when he's one-on-one with the keeper (instead of trying to dink it over the keeper a la Messi).

I am still trying to trace an Irish link to get Adel on the Irish team (with his twin brother Aido!)

Granero was playing a lot of simple balls, I think he's lost the confidence to do more, nevertheless he seemed somehow to hold us together. Park worked hard but we lost a lot of cohesion when he and Derry were on for Granero and M'bia, and a lot of our drive when Diakite went off.

I thought that was Bosingwa's best game for us, he looked one of our best today.
