Just reading on the Gooners' board, and saw a thread mooting the possibility of making a move for our talismanic striker. The majority are saying "wouldn't want him back" but not really giving any sensible reason why, given that he clearly has one of the best strike/assist rates in the EPL, and there are a couple (mainly PISKIE) voices saying, "yes, it's a no-brainer." Now, there are so many things wrong with that thread, and its sheer and utter arrogance, that I really don't know where to begin. Okay, let's start at the very beginning - as it was for Arsenal. Whinger loved the player and knew exactly what his talents were, but your arsehole fan-base drummed him out of the club... remember that? Why, on earth, would he ever want to go back to your club again? He seems, to me, to be an intelligent man, full of pride, and not someone to go crawling back to those that abused him. I'm sorry, but you've burnt your bridges, Gooners. Remember how he celebrated his first goal against you? How he ran the full length of the pitch, sliding on his knees for a good 10 feet, to rest in front of the majority of your fans, arms held aloft in derision and joy? Remember that? Sure, there's an argument for saying that he should not have done it, but every single neutral knows that he did because of all the **** that your stupid fans put him through, all the abuse and petty put-downs. So, forget it! Yours is the very last club he will ever play for. Then there is the fact that Adebayor is likely only to want to play for a side that's in the CL. Sure, you are currently in 4th spot, on equal points with the Chavs (which, should it end that way, would give you the chance to play in the CL qualifier). But there is every chance that you won't be playing in the CL next season, and I'd still put the Chavs up as favourites to clinch it ahead of you, although I'd prefer it to be the Toon. Even if you manage to clinch 5th, I cannot see Adebayor wanting to play in the Thursday Night League. Finally, there is the small matter of his having played with arguably one of the best midfields in Europe, this season. He's seen and felt what a delight it is to play fast, slick, flowing football with some of Europe's finest players, and he must know that the only way is up, for our squad. Why would any striker in his right mind want to give that up? Only a clueless Gooner would know, I'm sure I'm not saying that Ade will remain with us, because there is a lot of hard bargaining to be done with £ity over the transfer fee, and with Ade over his wage demands. However, it is clear for even the thickest Gooner to see that Adebayor is happy with us - possibly as happy as he's ever been in his entire career. He is loved at our club, ours fans revere him not sneer at him, and he is playing for a club with a very bright future, with or without Harry. For comedy value, I'd give that Gooner thread 8 out of 10. For incisive football discussion, I'd be lying if I said I thought it was worth more than 1.
This thread has had 62 views and not one post due to 62 people laughing so much they can't type...i was number one and its took me this long.
You think this is funny? You should take a look at the latest one: apparently we would be mid-table without Ade and that our 'deal' to bring him in should be out-lawed. One of them is even comparing Spurs to the bankers causing the financial crisis..... You couldn't make this stuff up!!!
The only way he will go back to the Ar5ena1 is wearing a Spurs shirt on the 26th of this month. Lets hope that he gets to take the match ball home. He deserves it.
They took your stats down it seems tho mate? The OP isn't giving up without a fight - witness the pain!!! Lol
Well I did offer that as a sensible thing to do some time ago...... Nice to know hey listened!!!! Lol
I asked if Arsenal would have beaten the Mighty Leeds without the on loan Henry...it seems to have disappeared....and the thread has closed. Can I take credit?
The thing that never ceases to amuse me, with both the Chavs and the Gooners, is how they still try to reverse-wum* us. It's almost as though they don't realise that we are miles better than them, this season. *Reverse-wumming - the noble art of posting prime wum material about another team, on one's own board
If you posting that on the Gooners' board, it would be wumming, KK. Repeating it here is reverse-wumming. And when I say that your comment is wumming, I meant only in the sense that the Gooners on this forum are wound up merely by the fact that you are a Spurs fan posting on their board. You can't even get away with going on there and telling them to step moaning, as they are a great club with a great manager, and they'll find their way back to the top again, eventually - because if you did that, they'd think you were taking the piss, so low is the faith they have in their club, it's board, and their manager. Apart from PISKIE, who is living an eternal delusion that nothing is wrong.
Adebayor would probably rejoin Arsenal if it was a choice between them and rotting in the City reserves. Players go for money and where they will play regular football..
This is a funny rant HIAG - it made me laugh. Not read much of the threads tonight, but you're right pointing out that I would offer a counter to the 'absolutely no way' stance regarding Adebayor. He is a top player, there's clearly no doubt about that. I think my exact words were 'it would be a massive risk taking him back', given the history, but that said I think it's equally as unlikely that he would return anyway. As for "all the **** that your stupid fans put him through, all the abuse and petty put-downs." - well he's had exactly the same from your fans too in his career. So there's some baggage that Adebayor carries around, but it doesn't seem to colour his willingness to playing for a club where he's been on the end of those fan's abuse and vitriol. As a hypothetical question - I think any fan would have him in their team.
To be fair, I think their situation with Ade is pretty similar to ours with Berbasulk. Berbs abandoned us for greener pastures, and we've given him some deserved stick ever since, but if there was the chance of him coming back I would take him in a second. The only slight difference is the Goons had turned against Ade before he left them.
